I know this has been discussed several times on this site but I am going to bring it up again. Does anyone know what kind of packing I need to order? I am getting a steady leak coming from the shaft. I tried to tighten but the leak didn't stop. I'm tired of Jet and Dusty continously reminding me that my bilge is pumping so I think I need to replace the packing. What exactly do I need to order? I think I have the process figured out but not really sure about the product I need to use. I have a 2004 Launch Direct Drive if that makes a difference.

Thank You in advance for any help.

I used the flax style rope and it has holding well. I think the gortex version is also got some good recommendations....I followed a thread here on how to replace packing, the only difference I found was that the amount of packing rope in my boat was less then the thread suggested so I only put back what i took out.....Making your' own custom rope picking out tool is key........

Never heard a boat pee for so long, lol. The old style wax/rope was just that, but I think they have newer synthetic ones that last longer now. Turn that frown upside down. :D

Like always "in Gear" you are no help. Give me specifics. Not just what you think.

Ah. You're so funny IN GEAR.

Well not sure if I like IN GEAR or Laura's Husband better. It's a shame you're not important enough for me to remember your name.

a little juvenile, prolly an inappropriate comment...Kinda like baseball...there's a pitcher and a catcher....
