'09 21v - can under seat dividers be removed?

Can the dividers which create the compartments under the port side seats be removed? I'm looking to have a custom ballast bag made for surfing that would extend underneath that area.

i dont think so cause they support the cushions. i will take a look at mine, but i doubt it
