Hi all,
Well, I just traded in my Four Winns H200 and bought a 2010 Launch 21V. It has the stock 650 front and 400 rear ballast system. I know there has been a lot threads discussing wake setup on this forum, but most have either been for surfing or to make the wake more mello. My question is, what things should I consider if I want to make the wake as steep as possible?
More weight in the rear, less weight up front? Also, if I want a steep wake, is setting the wake plate down or up the best option?

Thanks

If you put the wakeplate all the way up will get you a steeper wake lip, the more it goes down, the flatter the wake will be. You can create a larger wake by upgrading to the 1100 lb front sac, and 750 lb rear sacs. I am pretty sure there are some 21V owners that are using the 1100 in the front ski locker, and the 750's in the rear lockers.

Only modification necessary with the larger bags might be a longer fill line because of the added height to the bag. Some of the Supras dont need this, mine had to be extended. You will also need to reprogram your VISION.

Thanks Man.. With the Supra boats is it real important to have a lot of weight up front? The wake cleans up fairly nice beginning at around 18 mph.

you may want to put 1100's in the back as well, make sure you add a middle angle support to the bottom of the engine hatch as the weight may blow it into the engine compartment......the 1100 fills the area quite nicely.....up front you can def go bigger with the 1180 or another 650 stacked on top is ideal

My 22 does not start to clean up until about 21 mph, so your 18mph is even better. I have heard more bow weight is definitely key to a larger wake. My 22 has the 400 lb front center locker, and 750 rears. The wake for us is much larger than we will ever need, but most advanced/pro riders are running 3000lbs + in there boats.

If you go with the 1180 front and 1180 rears you will have a monster wake, hopefully you have the 14.25x14 wakeboard prop and the 340 HP motor because it will need it all to plain that boat out with all that weight! Doc made a good recommendation, because having the 1180's in the rear compartment will also make your surf wake very nice.

Wow! I did not know the 2010 21V can house 4,030lbs of hidden ballast. I would love to see some pics of the wake with that set up. It must be huge!

We have a 2006 21V. It seems to like weight up front. Right now I run 650s in the rear with a 1100 front sac. I ride at either 24mph or 24.5 with a 75 ft rope. If we have more people I like them upfront which seems to help clean out the wake. Wake plate is usally at 50%. If there is too much weight in the rear then the wake will fold over a bit.

When the girls ride I usually empty all all ballast (or keep the front 1/4 full)and pull them at 19-21mph with a 65 ft rope. The wake is pretty clean.

I meant a 650 on a 650 in the front locker, lol not a 650 on a 1180....oops..... so around 3300 as im sure my 1100 doesnot fill completely

That must still be a sweet wake.

Be aware the 1180 is different from the 1100. the 1180 is designed for up front, not the rear lockers. I didn't know the 1100s would fill in the rear but that is def a god recommendation if they do.

My buddy with a 21v runs the 1180 sac with another 700 in the bow, the 700 might not fill all the way but for sure gets 500. He runs 750s rear lockers. Wake plate is just to the right of half way. I love his wake! It is clean with a nice lip.

Are you guys referring to this 1180 bag for the center locker?
http://www.wakemakers.com/fly-high-gravity-games-center-sac.html

No way that fits in the locker of my '09 21v. I bought one and it's several feet too long. There's about 5' of usable length in that center locker.

Caution also on using the 1100 lb bags in the rear lockers. I had that setup, then one bag filled to the point of crimping the outflow, allowing the bag to overexpand and it caused some pretty good gelcoat & fiberglass damage. That bag can be used, but keep a close eye on it.

I'm depressed I didn't get to go out this weekend due to the rain on Saturday and wind today. I plan on trying an additional 450 lbs in the rear when I get out next weekend.

I got out this weekend.
I filled up the stock ballasts and added a 350lb. bag to the rear thinking this would steepen the wake. I was wrong. It made it more rounded.
I then moved the additional weight to the bow. Huge difference. The wake was a wall!!! I rode behind it and actually had to absorb some of the pop with my knees off the wake. I got some fairly decent hang time. Later in the day I finally started to push a little when popping off the wake. I see why the slogan for the Supra boats is "I Fly". Went tons bigger with little effort than I'd ever gotten before.

Here's the setup I used.
Wake Plate - 20%
100% - Front Sacs - 650lbs.
100% - Rear Sacs - 800lbs.
Added a 350lb bag to the bow for a total of 1800 lbs.

Had similar problems with the 1100's until I put them in the back. Smooth sailing from there.
