I have a 1986 Sunsport and need to make a seat.
It came with something like a bass boat seat.

Anyway, I found some marine leather.
I am somewhat of a woodworker, however I am much better with some plans.
Has anyone ever made one from scratch or have plans?
I am 6'2" and my wife 5'3" so.....
I don't think i want to mess with a bolster, as it may be a lot of work.
Maybe just make a real nice seat with base and get a really nice cushion for when she drives.

Any suggestions or ideas I could use prior to starting.
I will post pics of the process when i begin after the new year.

Thanks in advance for your help!

And here's a WakeWorld DIY thread:

Good luck I always wanted to do this project.

I made a jump seat as well for my Saltare...I did not bolt it down so I can keep it on or remove it depending on gear and how many people are going out. It does not slide around because I carpeted the bottom section of the seat. It started as just an experiment and turned out to be the most comfy seat in the boat!!

Ok my bad....I would'nt rec the jump seat for the captains chair. I bought my Saltare and the previous owner had put in a white uiversal bucket seat which works well I just re-uhpolstered to match. But as for dimensions or plans sorry but I got nothing....good luck

yeah, i'll make a jump seat too...that seems pretty easy

just was looking for plans on the captain chair, how to secure it to the deck, maybe making a sliding compartment underneath, and possibly make it slide.... a lot of options i am considering....

thanks mikey, merry xmas... did you check out my Supra in the TV commercial?

Take the base from the fishing seat, and then just build the top how you want it. It will be more secure, and should all ready be bolted down anyway. I am assuming it has the metal pedestal there now?

My interior guy made me a captains chair from scratch. All in all it was much EZ r than I thought. The chair contained the bottom plate. A back and four side pieces. Two larger ones connecting the back to the side and bottom and two smaller ones mounted at a slightly sharper angle to create the curved illusion.

You could start wilh the dimensions of a old wooden chair and go from there.
