Saltare 454 rope packing size

Does anyone know what my rope packing size should be? I have the 454 with the 1:1 transmission. Thanks.

It shouldn't matter.... Skidim said that whatever size they sell (3/8" maybe?) can replace any size OEM rope.

No it matters, they make 2-sizes. The older boats like mine use the larger size and the newer boats 2000?? and above use the smaller rope. On the newer models there isnt much room between the shaft and the thru hull part.

In that thread, someone says they contacted skidim and it doesn't matter. I don't know why it would? The whole point is that you tighten the nut down and cause the rope to squeeze out and fill the box.

Of course, I have a dripless system, so don't listen to me. ;)

Yes. It COULD fit..but you would have to hit it with a hammer for 10 mins before it would flatten out enough to fit. Just need a bigger hammer.

Thanks guys. I checked with Vince at SKIDIM and he said that I need the 1/4 inch size (which is the larger one they sell). The other option is the 3/16 size.
