Seriously, This will be my second boat project. I did quite well on my Carlson project. and I hope the Supra will stay in the family a while.

Congrats on the new project (nice work on the Carlson, btw). SC can ID for sure from the hull VIN, but I'd vote 85 Rider.

Haha I love it!! Someone obviously knows a well-built boat when they see one hehe. The Rider is a great boat with many of the features of the SunSport. The deep vee bow is not quite as deep as the SunSport.

Check the floor and stringers, obviously.

Welcome. You will definitely find a wealth of information on here and plenty of us to help you through the issues you find as you work on the boat.

I'd say late 85... Almost 86.... Since it has the same colour scheme as my 86 Comp.

Any soft parts in the floor??? With some interior work, wet sanding and polishing you will be riding in style. NTM you will think it drives like a Vette compared to the old Carson. Sorry you just caught the Supra bug... The only known cure is countless hours on this site....

^you Windsor's are everywhere.. My sister married one. "Labbe"
I havent had time to climb up in it yet.. Im actually in WV now snowboarding.. Winter cure for the wake.

The Carlson was a fun boat.. but slow. I only took it out 3 times..
Decided to sell it/feeler ad, threw a HUGE number up on boat trader.
2 days later a guy came to look at it. As soon as i removed the cover, he pulled out the cash.

Ive had fun w/ my boss' Supra Competition last season. So the bug started then.

Wow. Sounds almost like a free boat and trailer! Welcome to the board and I look forward to seeing your progress on the restoration. After seeing your previous boat and your place of work, I'll be expecting some great results! Congrats!

wow! IT SOUNDS like you got a great deal on that thing.

I am hearing the value of my boat drop by the minute on this site. The last guy bought one from a guy that was asking $5500 and paid "much less than $3500" in total running condition.

I just bought my sunsport a couple months ago and am into it now for $3600 CDN (about $3599 US), and have not even gone through it for a tune up or anything. So there will be another $500 or so I will be dumping in before I even drive it!

Still, looks good. I love all the pics. Keep us posted on the progress

Well a few days after i bought it.. My Boss wanted if for parts.
Never said the purchase price so... $400

So it sat in our back lot for a year.
Until Yesterday...

Put the engine back together in a few hrs and fired it up last night

We spent last season between his Malibu, Donzi and SupraComp. (and his.. Cabo)
The Wake surf bug hit us hard.

How will the Rider do for wake/wave size?
Any pictures would be awesome!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ that pic is epic!!!! would be so sweet to go down a lake surfin behind that!!

Question what paint did you use to paint your first boat?

Windsma

Hit the Inter-coastal waterway.. You can ride for a good 15min.+
Getting pulled up is a little challenging. And.... the saltwater messes with you head. ( you still think you're at the lake )
First time trying it..

Not bad for first season wakesurfers.

I used automotive paint. Single Stage on the bottom and Base Clear on top.
I wish i could find the Carlson again to see how it held up.

Rider:
Interior has been stripped and steam cleaned.
We ran the engine on water for a good 45min. There is a lot of steam coming out of the exhaust, which leads me to believe the HG is gone. (they were rebuild heads when i
bought it, just installed, never ran)
Ill pull the plugs in a few days. Both Exhaust manifolds have cracks in them.

Glad you've knocked the dust off. The fuel tank looks brand new. What are your plans? How far are you taking this restoration?
