Hey all. Just bought this boat, hoping to only have to replace interior. After pulling out the back seat I found that the floor was quite spungy. After some demolition, I am going to replace the floor from the rear of the motor to the stern, and under the driver's seat. Stringers are good and solid except in the notches. I will try to keep the pics coming as the project progresses. Please comment!

You have your work cut out for you. There have been some amazing project boats on this page; which only means that you have the right audience for questions. Best of luck.

I haven't posted in awhile, but have been getting some things done. I replaced all the wood seat backs and bottoms as well as the side trim pieces. I rebuilt the carb last weekend and put it back together. I turned it over and it didn't fire, so I cleaned the corroded points in the distributor and BANG, she kicked right off and ran. I got all the interior back from a local uphulsterer and it turned out really nice. I am planning on getting the floor pieces cut and glassed in this weekend. After the floor is in, then the plan is to CleanCleanClean, buff and polish, and recarpet. Then its lake time. Here are a few more pics. Sorry you have to click the links, the pictures are too large for this forum to host. try this link

Had a great weekend layin glass! With the help of an experienced boat builder I was able to get the floor in today. Since we did a patch job, rather than the complete floor, we attached the plywood 'shelf' under the existing floor where the new pieces would but up. Everything went together well and is solid. There's only one picture of the rear pieces in place, and it doesn't yet have the top layer of glass. We would have finished all pieces (middle two removable pieces) if I would have had enough resin. Should have all floor finished by midweek, then its time to clean and carpet. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about our work. Thanks for looking!

And the upholstery was done by a local guy that usually does hot rods and stuff. I talked him into doing it since I took care of all the wood work and stripping of old upholstery. Total cost was $1100, which I think is about average for as many pieces as there were.

$1,100 is a steal for how the seats look from that camera angle. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

I just got 4 seat bottoms back from the upholstery shop. 3 bottoms for the rear bench & 1 drivers seat bottom. Looks fantastic. $756.00. Side note, the top of the windshield bar is in my eye site & I need to sit on a life jacket to see above this bar, another thread was talking about ideas on how to raise the drivers seat for this issue. This shop is going to custom build me a removable booster seat (exactly like at a restaurant, need the booster, set it in the booth/chair, don't need it, don't use one and sit on the booth/chair bottom directly.) to match the other seats with the necessary seat adjustment already built in. Once the boat comes out of storage (4-9-11) I just need to call him up with what height I need. Can't wait.

Looks pretty good. Did they re-use anything?

Located in NEA who was the shop that did your seats?

Thanks

Okie Boarder. All brand new - nothing was saved or could be saved. I brought the 4 old seats to his shop w/ 1 excellent seat back for the color choices, matched very close. I will probably drop the passenger bottom off and get that completed too before the season really starts, yet that's in pretty good shape - still.....

Glad they didn't try re-using any of the wood. They did that on mine (when the PO had it done) and it is rotting on some of them. That is one item on my "list" to work through replacing them.

Agriteach, A local shop here in Tahlequah called Ron's Upholstery. This boat actually came from NEArkansas. I picked it up just North of Jonesboro. Ever seen it?

Okie, I first thought I could reuse some of the wood, but after stripping old upholstery, I knew that the new staples probably wouldn't hold. One sheet of 1/2" plywood, a few hours of tracing and cutting, and some primer & paint and they were all new.

Found some carpet @ a local flooring store, but I'm going to wait to put it in till I water test the boat on the lake next week. If there is anything else wrong I want to know before I put all my seats and carpet in. I also plan on doing a little buffing to bring back the gel coat. Then the interior will go in.

Yes Sir

almost bought it early January but backed up, good looking boat just did not need to risk owning two.

I like the booster seat pad idea. I might steal that idea from you and work on making one with the wife.

You're in NE OK? I don't remember noticing that before. I used to be up in Owasso, but now live in Edmond. We went to Skiatook most of the time.

Okie Boarder: I'll start a thread with photos once I get it back. Perhaps 3-4 weeks from today. Love to see your booster seat too once completed.

Update Time:
I've been able to get work quite abit lately as the weather has warmed up considerably. I got a few new goodies in the mail this week, the CIBA Comp mirror, which I love to use b/c you can see the skier from side to side, and a Uniden Depth Finder. Both items came from ebay and am happy with the quality! I ran the buffer on Friday evening and this morning. There is RED under there, all this time I thought I had bought the only pink supra in the country. (I actually had a gas station attendant tell me she liked my pink boat the night I brought it home.)
I had some help taking out the front skeg bolts b/c the two that go through the pylon mount were loose. We slapped some magic Krylon on the base, squeezed some silicon around the bolt holes and sucked them down tight!
We also started putting the interior back in which I think is looking great compared to what it was! Also pictured is where I cut an access area under the passenger side w/s. Instead of the single wrap around spotters seat back, I split it into two and hinged the front one up...see pictures.
There are a couple pics of my launch attempt, but a dead battery caused me to not leave the trailer. The trip wasn't a total loss as I found that the rope shaft seal was leaking a steady stream. I'm gona try to tighten it up and see if it will seal. The depth transducer that I got is supposed to have a hole cut in the bottom of the boat, but I just stuck it to the floor w/ some silicon and am going to see if that will work before I cut a 2" hole.
Sorry to drag on and on but that's what I've been up to.

I Appreciate Comments!

Dude, I have a little more gelcoat damage on my Conbrio, but the guts look identical, that original interior is just how mine looked...
Nice work on the rebuild, you're gonna have a ton of fun with'er this summer!!!
BTW thanks for the partial rot replacement pics...I'll be there in a couple weeks!!!

Thanks guys, and you're welcome for the pics. I'm going to put a gas strut on the seat back to hold it up. I took her out this afternoon and had a fairly succesful first launch! She cranked a little slow but started and ran good. After I zipped around the cove a few times I pulled it to idle and it was idling @ like 2k so I headed back to the trailer to tune a bit. (Choke was open and idle needles were about 2 turns out) I grabbed a screwdriver to adjust the idle stop position, but my battery wouldn't start it the second time. When I was driving the volt meter showed about 13+v so I think its charging, but I think my battery is bad. I'm going to get a Sp Gravity bulb tomorrow and check for sure. Anyhow, I will get a new battery and resume the tuning another day. Barefoot boom should be here tomorrow, I hope to be out learning back deeps in a week or two! Hope everyone has good luck taking out your boats for their first summer dip!

Just talked to my dad. He said to check timing first. If it is advanced too far, it will start ok when cold, but after it warms up will have too much compression for battery to pull. Might also explain the fast idle.

Smoothfootn, I am pretty sure I passed you and your Conbrio on main street out in front of a garage just north of Gibbs used cars. If that was you, I love what I saw of the boat! I probably almost ran some people over rubbernecking at it! LOL! It definitely inspires me to get out there this weekend and get mine wrenched on and start buffing and polishing! I'd love to take a better look at your boat!
