You may have seen our thread on moomba, but some arent over tehre so we wanted to share here also.

Kg and my joint project has finally drawn to a conclusion. Give us some feedback guys, likes, dislikes, what do you think? In the pics, His boat has the 3 JL amps, and mine has the 2 JL and the Kenwood on the bottom.

Custom Amp Rack, all wires routed and attached cleanly to the back. Behind the rack are 2 Stereo batts and 1 Crank Batt

A few more pics of the switches. These are ground interrupting switches. When the hatches are closed, the LED in said compartment turns off. These were added to all the lockers so no battery drain occurs. From the factory, the rear lights and locker light, and behind our driver seat came on at any time you turned the courtesy's on. Not any more!!!

Both of these are "pre-cleanup." Dont think for a second we have a single wire showing!! HAhahaha

Well we have def gone red. I took all of my pics one night as soon as we got the LEDs in. I'll have to get some none LED pics later.

It is def difficult to take pics of LEDs but I got a couple good ones that give you an idea of the glow. The red is great because it is a solid glow without any eye blinding brightness

Here are the switches we used to save some battery. Seat comes up, light goes on .. seat goes down, light goes off. Passenger seat, rear facing seat, and ski lockers.

Awesome! Very nice and very clean. The lighting seems like it covers all areas needed for good vision at night and a nice look. The ground interrupt switches on the hatches are a cool idea. Should be all set for a midnight surf session at Texoma for Memorial weekend.

Great work guys, did you use superfluxes in the cupholders? If so, how many, if not, what did you use and are you satisfied? I'm going to be throwing some LED's in my vessel this spring.

The only cupholder with a Superflux in it is the one by the drivers foot. The others have flexable LED strips above them.

Those are the two lights above the cupholders in the cockpit.

The bow cupholders and drivers cupholder have the superfluxs. We decided not to go with the superflux in the cockpit cupholders due to them always being full anyways.

I have forgotten the sizes of the strips but I'm sure Dusty has it stored in his head ...

Dusty, Looks amazing...how many amp is your BEP Vsr?? Believe I have the 60, wondering if it's a enough for my dual battery(1 stereo 1 cranking), 2 X 400w amp setup this summer...
Those led's look so good, I think I'm a have to break down and "jam" some in the small boat this summer.....

Nice install on everything. Clean and well thought out. Has anyone tried black lights yet??? Think the black would go well from an tower as an accent, making the white of the deck glow....

Did you all run new wires or did you crimp it all in with the existing LED wiring? I've toyed around alot in my 24 and noticed that alot of your LED placement has relatively easy access to existing wiring. I'm trying to decide whether to tie them all together to the courtesy light switch or to run new wires to an alternate switch. I'm putting new LED docking lights on my tower soon and while I'm running wire for that I could do the interior as well.

We piggybacked from existing. We were told with the LEDs dont pull enough to really worry about running new wiring. You are right, most lights we added were pretty easy because there was a factory light nearby.

We looked into doing different switches but in the end, just tied them all into courtesy. An idea we had, but didn't do, Supra has another accessory switch that could replace your courtesy, it is on-off-on, so you could do some lights-off-all lights.

Hey Maple, I'll have to check when I go mess with the boat again. I never paid attention to it, it was the one that was installed factory.

I should really ask Gravity04, he sent it up to me. I just know that he upgraded to help handle his charging needs....( prolly necessary when your towers' full of Pro 80's!!)

KG,
1)were those strips the ribbon led strips or the waterproof led strips from oznium.com?

2)and how do the brightness compare to the super flux 4 chip?

3)also did the strips you used come pre wired?

i want to do some of these leds to my boat just not to sure what to get

4)also where are your lights mounted in the glove box and back hatches?

5)and where those super flux 4 or strips in the back v drive hatches?

KG's Supra24
05-11-2011, 01:39 PM
1. http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips

2. I think the brightness is comparable to the superflux. We used strips where we wanted to spread light across a large area. Used strips in passenger cubby, ski lockers, cupholders, under driver helm.

3. Yes the strips are prewired

4. glovebox has a small hole drilled in it for a superflux to go through right inside wall, came up from the passenger cubby. The ski lockers are strips and placed right where the factory lights were.

5. strips

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll see if i can find some more detailed pics. Not sure if i have taken any, though.

how long would you estimate the strips in the rear lockers and how long do you think the strips were above the cup holders?

and how did you attach them to the carpeted areas? or did you just used the sticky tape they said the lights come with?

dusty2221
05-12-2011, 09:27 AM
45" Strips are in the back lockers. We went shorter on those due mainly to just not really needing the light back there. The cup holders have a 9.5 (or w/e the closet link oznium makes), and the other side is 18.5, they span nearly the full stretch across each side so there are no "dark" spots.

As far as attachments, nothing is secured to carpet. The doubler sided tape was used mainly, but there are a few that have silicone attaching them.

KG's Supra24
05-12-2011, 09:53 AM
Yep, what he said .. except 4.5" and not 45" :p

19" on 4 cupholder side and 9.5" on 2 cupholder side. Might vary depending on your boat of course. We just covered as much of the length as we could, as dusty said, so we have no dark spots.

I think Dusty may have snapped a pic of the LED in the glovebox?

thanks guys im going to order my leds this week.

my plan is to have all interior lights on my courtesy light switch that is already provided.then have a seperate switch for each rear locker and glove box so they can be individually turned on and off when needed.

and ill have a separate switch by the driver to turn on the vent lights, not sure how the cops will be with colored lights facing outside the boat...... this way when driving i can have the courtesy light switch on and have all interior lights, then when docked turn the vents on. and when needing to get into each locker or glove box there will be a switch to manually turn them on and off when needed.

kg thanks for all the info hope it turns out as nice as yours did

ess, only thing i might mention ....

Did you see the use of the ground break switches we used? Instead of having manual switches for the lockers we used ground break switches. When the locker is open, light on, when closed, light goes off. It is a real simple add in, it would be the same as adding a manual switch.

How do you like the kenwood receiver and remote? I'm looking at a new overstock on ebay that's super cheap...My concern is being able to hook up my ipod. I have Kenwood decks in 2 of my cars and very happy w/ them.
Any help is appreciated
