What's everybody running in their Velvet-Drive trannies? Anyone using a synthetic product?

if your tranny is new break it in with regular oil then switch. Synthetic is way better in my opinion. Just rub your finger and thumb back and forth with both oils and you can feel it for yourself. Jet

I agree that synthetic is better. But what are you using? Dexron, Mercon, what? I've heard different things. My Supra manual says Dexron Type A, and the Warner Gear section of the PCM manual says to use "Dexron, Type F, or any hydraulic fluid which meets the C-3 oil specification". I can't even remember now what I used in it last year. I'll probably put a synthetic product in it when I re-install the tranny, but wondering what to get.

You have to watch some applications do not like synthetic oil as it is to slipper and can cause clutch packs with friction type discs to slip and cause premature failure. You will definitely want to consult PCM on this..

Hey. While you guys are on the topic. When is a good time to rebuild a transmission? How do u know it's time? Also, how much does a rebuild cost?

If it works, it works. If it slips, change the oil. If it don't work, rebuild it. ;)
