Does anyone know where I can get remanufactured dash inserts? Jim at Viper Customs tried but his supplier screwed him. I am looking for something in metal or plastic. Thanks.

What do you mean by dash insert?

Comp, are you looking for the screw in pieces that hold the gauges?

If so, how bad are yours? Cracked or faded? I've looked at customizing mine, and priced out some carbon fiber in two thicknesses. One to completely replace the insert and hold the gauges, and the other to adhesive on top of the old insert to give a clean look.

Both were very cheap and easy to do. I did some graphics work to see how it would look, and was very pleased in how clean it looked without looking cheap or ghetto.

Just some ideas if that's what you're looking for.

I couldn't find replacements & custom laser cuts were a little out of my price range. I fabbed my new ones out of a $5 sheet of 1/4" scrap black plastic with a wrinkle finish on one side. A little tedious, but doable with simple hand tools. Here's a link to the page on my rebuild thread.

That's a good idea on the plastic insert - look really nice. Jim replaced my dash inserts last year with some NOS from Supra, but I'm not crazy about them. I'm getting ready to rewire my dash and if I decide to make custom inserts I will sell these to anyone.

What do you not like about the gauges?? They look sharp!

Love the gauges Jet, just not the metal panels. They were made with all the lights that I don't have hooked up, some language for things I don't have, and all the amber lights are for warnings - and I don't even have the warning system. I just want gauges with toggle switches, nothing more.

I have a cnc...if someone can give me either a cad drawing, or send me a set to copy...I'm sure I can make them fairly cheap.

Haughy: the plastic plates that hold the gauges are exactly what I am talking about. They are structurally fine, but faded. The new PP and PP speedo and Supra steering wheel deserve a better look. A local graphics shop said they can paint, letter/graphics and clear coat them. Your idea of the carbon fiber is intriguing too.

Why not just cover them with some carbon fiber vinyl?
