Hi Guys
I have been silently watching this forum for awhile and wondering if there any original owners out there? I purchased my comp at the Portland Oregon Boat show back in the spring of 86 form a guy named Calvin. At the time the Supra line up was ahead of there time and the comp was the coolest looking ski boat on the water. I paid $16,400 and I thought that I had to be crazy to spent that much money , a new Vett cost about the same. O well form the first pull I was hooked. Sense then the comp has raised 4 kids and there friends and now she is starting with grand kids. In 25 years I’ve clocked about 1700 hrs and still when it’s time to ski my buddies come to me first for a pull. PS get a PP

That $16400 sounds like it proved to be an excellent investment.

We got a new Conbrio in 89 and then a new Comp in 01. We kept the Conbrio in amazing condition and had over 1100 hours on it when we traded it at the boat show. It sold within a week at the dealer.

Welcome to the forum Hagman.
I bought my Sunsport in 89, you are right at the time the Supras were way ahead of their time. George Fowler was the Lee Iacocca of the inboard boat world. Back then there were no wake boats or wake boards slalom was the king and the comp was the boat. I bought my Sunsport because it was the perfect cross between a runabout and a inboard with top notch fit finish and trim. It has been my baby for 22 years and I dont see that changing anytime soon.

I did not buy our 1985 Supra Beast new, But I did prep the boat for the new sale delivery. Yes, way back in spring of 1985. 2 previous owners and I new them both. We have owned the boat for 3 seasons now. Don't see any reason to sell, none at all. Al

Welcome to the thread.

Yes, my father was the original owner of our old 89 Comp. In fact the ownership of our Supra inspired one of your Moderator's father to buy one as well, and he still has it too. It was in pristine shape back in 2000, and I kept it. That's when a group of vandal kids decided to yank the boat stands out from under it when I was redoing the trailer one week. Killed the boat's hull.

I was devastated. So I decided to salvage what I could. Now the crazy part. Since the boat hull was ruined, and the engine was fine I got wild. I now run the 1989 Supra Comp engine in my rockcrawler. Not only does it still run strong, it produced mad amounts of torque compared to high end motors.

Alas since I couldn't save the original Haugy Supra, I went and found another one very similar to it, a Mariah. And I've have vowed to always have a Classic Supra in my stable.
