After a few months of waiting the VLX has arrived, I could not be happier with the color choice and craftmanship of Malibu. Exterior color is Charcoal/white, with Charcoal, white, moonbeam and black interior. I wanted to share with you guys, and yes, I am still a fan of Supra! but I really, really, like the Malibu build.

Tuesday she goes into the stereo shop for Wetsounds goodies and tinted windows. The blanks you see in the rear seating area will be filled with RF speakers, they came seperate because of the soundpack I chose with Malibu (lowest one they offered)

For those that dont know me, I had an '08 22SSV I traded in for BU, I still pop in hear quite a bit because I enjoy reading all the posts and try to help out where I can.... so try and hold off on the shots for putting a VLX up here!

Boat has some upgrades, CAT ETX 350 HP motor, 3 vent heater, heated drivers seat, shower, G3 mirror, etc... Today was a GREAT day! ;)

Wow, great looking rig..the interior looks amazing...Totally digging the white on white with the tow rig.
A little off topic, but I'm curious of the trailing weight and how the 4.7l handles it??? Both my wife and I have that motor in our trucks and I've always wondered what it would be like towing a bigger boat... ( 5.7 Tundra a couple months away, bigger boat maybe a couple yrs away!!!)
Hopefully you won't mind adding some tinted window pic's when she's done, that windshield will be incredible tinted....

Thank you for the feedback, I was very pleased the color combo. Its a little nerve racking until you see it in person, the I-spec does not do a good job of true color pallets.

The boat weighs 3,500 lbs and the trailer I am guessing is around 1,500. So loaded up with gear and fuel - 5,500-6,000??? The Sequoia does a pretty good job for a 2004/4.7L engine. Pulling grades it will struggle, but it gets the job done. I would definitely not tow anything larger than this, I believe it is rated for 6,500 lbs. Ths is one reason I stayed with 21.6" boat, and did not go up to the 23' LSV.

With the new Tundra's and the 5.7L motor you would be fine for any of the larger boats, those are really nice motors and produce way more horsepower than the older 4.7L.

I will definitely post up some pics of the stereo and tint when its finished.

Yes, I did add the transom lights! My dealer was awesome to work with, all upgrades he gave me at cost.... it was only a few bucks more out of my pocket to have Malibu install them at the factory, and they are tied into the Malibu Touch Screen.

Definitely agree on the color combo...very nice! I saw some of those transom lights on the boats I looked at the other day. Seemed like it was something they commonly like to throw on there.

They are an "upgrade", but a lot of boat manufacturers, including Skiers Choice are offering them to customers. I have not been out to see them in the water yet, but the pics look really cool.

That thing sho is purty!!!

Someone asked about the 5.7L Tundra... It will yank a big boat around like it's nothing. I towed an Air Nautique 230 and a World Edition 24' Supra with one and it pulled better than my old Cummins did. Granted, the gas mileage sucked in comparison, but it hauled like a boss!

WOW Fman! That is one super sweet looking boat! When the new tower first came out, I wasn't a huge fan, but they've definitely grown on me. That thing is just all around awesome looking!

Congrats!

When's the maiden voyage? (or maybe you already took her out...sorry I didn't read the entire thread...just drooled over the pics ;))

Thanks Scott, as my wife said "Make it count because this is a one time deal! :D" .... It was fun choosing the colors, options, etc.... and then came the waiting..... 2 months!

It goes into ACME Stereo and tunes tomorrow for about a week for a stereo facelift, then we should be out in it. My youngest 8 year old already called first tow, go figure, the kids a wakeboarding machine! I will snap a few pics of the stereo, going with the white Pro 80's on the tower... I was able to pull off some WS components from my Supra that I will be using on the Bu.

I agree on the Tower, I did not care for them when they first came out. But aftering being in the boat, they really are nice because at 6' 1" I can fully stand up and walk around without hunching my back. The bimini is also nice and big and can be set at different angles. Visibility for the driver is awesome with no feet in front of you, and they also are very strong, much better design than the Illusion. You can do pull ups on the thing and it does not budge!

Not Taking anything away from the Malibu Wakesetter as they are a top quality boat, but a good mate of mine that I regularly ride with just took delivery of his 2011 VLX last month, and although it is avery impressive boat in all areas, myself and all my crew still prefer the seating layout and configuration of my 22SSV

Do you have the rear facing seat? Thats funny because I purposely wanted to get a boat that DID NOT have it. For us, it just takes up a lot of room in the center of the boat, but everyone has there preference... the VLX is 10" shorter than the 22SSV but IMO feels larger inside the boat because of the wrap around seating. For me, I wanted the open feel of the wrap around seating.

Go out and ride behind his VLX, if he got the quad-ballast(1250 lb hard tank)and power wedge the wake is rediculuosly nice with no extra bags.... I was really impressed when I demo'd the boat.

Thats a sweet looking VLX.

I think its an Aussie made trailer, does anyone know what brand it is? Definitely looks heavy duty by the rear step bracing in the rear of the trailer.

It is an Aussie made trailer manufactured by a company called Easy Tow.

Yeah, my 22SSV has the rear facing seat, and that is what we all like about the layout & configuration over the VLX.

We had a few people in his VLX the other week and quite a few of them in the boat had to sit sideways to see the action out the back.

My mate's VLX has power wedge and 500kg inbuilt ballast, but we both reckon the Supra wake is steeper than the malibu's

Fman thanks for the boat porn

I'm assuming to took delivery of the boat without any stereo upgrades so you can build it out how you want?? can't wait to see it in a month or so!!

Have not spent much time in the boat, only a demo for a couple hours. Hoping this weekend to get out for a few hours with the family. I was impressed with the wake for how clean it was at all different speeds. Looked pretty good to me, but I guess everyone has there favorites. I could never get my 22 SSV wake cleaned up on the port side without going 24+ mph which is much faster than I like to ride. Maybe it was a user error on my part.

If you play with the wedge, it will ramp up the wake quite a bit.

Regardless, sounds like you have two great boats to go out on.

Month? I should be picking up the boat tomorrow from the stereo shop! It went right from the dealer to Ben at ACME tunes. I went with PRO 80's on the tower, and some ARC Audio amps, WS 12" sub, WS-420, and the HSE. Hopefully it turns out nice, Ben does a really nice job on the installs... he did some work for me on my Supra.

I will post up some pics when I get it back.
