need some help repairing a damaged keel

just bought the boat and want to get it out on the water but i was wondering if this has to be repaired before we take it out for a test drive, what would be the best way to fix this.

I'm no expert on this by any means but I did look this up a while back.

You might have to cut out the damaged area (very cleanly) and patch it with new gel coat and once that dries you'll have to put down some fiberglass and resin. Just google gel coat repair and you should come up with a bunch of good diy videos.

It's a simple concept but difficult to do correctly for a first timer.
