I'm heading to Marine Tower Systems tomorrow to drop the boat off for a couple of weeks. Getting a custom tower built and installed. I'm leaning towards having them build one like Michael Hunter's. Any thoughts?

I like that style, and mine. Both were made by New Dimensions, you can see them on their website. Those are the only two towers I like. His is the traditional Supra tower that was found on 2000-2004 Launches.

Mine is what was found on modern Moombas. I will say, if you want to add speakers you might want to go with his. His has a higher overall height clearance.

Mine.

I like the swept back design on haugys better than mine but New Dimensions didn't offer it on a Sunsport. Make sure you post pics when she is done.

Thats the tower that came on mine from the factory. I like them, one of the best looking in the industry I think.

Thanks guys. And Haugy, I really like yours as well. I've been struggling with the idea of putting the swept back style on mine when the windshield is so squared off. Seeing it on yours I really like it, so I'm confused again. I was thinking that Michael's straight-lined version of the New Dimensions might better match the older, squared lines of my Saltare. But now I'm not sure that it would matter. I've always liked the swept look at little more. Thoughts? I'll be checking for your input on my iphone when I get there! Thanks.

Both ND styled towers look great and perfectly at home on square windshield Supras. However since you've already tastefully updated the look of the old girl (carbon fiber fabric, new font, etc.), I'd lean towards the ND swoop on Haugy's. The base still follows the lines on the windshield, but the swoop modernizes it a bit.

Can't go wrong either way, & Haugy makes a good point on the height. But since it's custom, why not just make it a little taller if speaker placement is a concern.

I always enjoy looking at those two boats.

Sorry Tack - I meant those three boats. White/Black/Grey is one of my favorite color combos. Plus your boat is proof that the ND design is timeless - looks great on square or curved windshields.

I don't think you can make a wrong choice! That's always a good feeling

tough choices, sweet looking towers.

i might lean toward the swoop because it looks bigger. the 2 more vertical towers might seem under-sized on the ole battleship.

I think I would also go for the swoop - as for the height, just tell them what you want. I had them make mine a little shorter because I plan not to have tower speakers. If I had it to do over again, I would probably have some swoop in mine . . .

Battleship, Salty? Heck my Salt looks like an aircraft carrier while it's still gutted. Maybe have them build a crow's nest and gun turret on top for those pesky jet skiers.

Thanks guys. I just got back from Marine Tower Systems. And I'm still not decided. After spending time with the tower designer, I'm somewhere between the "Hunter" or "Tack" version, and the "Haugy" version. The front line of the tower is fairly obvious for what it needs to be (it will match the slope of the windshield), but I'm unsure of the back support. MTS is going to mock up a couple of options and send me some photos. I don't think I'll be able to go wrong. These guys know what they're doing and since I like both towers I'm basing this off of, it should turn out fine. They're going to start on it this weekend.

I'll tell you one more thing about Haugy's photo. That's the best ND swoop tower image I've ever seen. There are others online that don't look nearly as complimentary. For my personal tastes I really like the swoop, but I think it MIGHT be a little too modern for my 1986. That's why I'm leaning towards something between the two towers.

But Haugy, that's one smart photo.

Thanks bud. I personally love the look of the swoop design. I love my tower. Just get you that clearance so you don't bonk your head on speakers if you add them. What ever you choose will look great I'm sure.

What's neat is I also got a bimini from a 2002 Launch, and mounted it on the sides. I don't have a picture, but I pitched the bimini forward a bit, so it actually matches the swoop on the tower. It looks great with the bimini open.
