View Full Version : Oil Recommended for pcm 351?

When I got the boat I just used mobile 1 Non synthetic... Then I think I read somewhere about oil that doesn't contain something... Not sure where I read this and I searched for answers with no luck..

So 351pcm What OIL and wieght it recommended? Im going to change it this week! Its great to know im 2 weeks away from boating season!

I think I just put 10W30 Synthetic Valvoline in mine.

I just put 10W40 synthetic in my'86 351pcm w/ a little bit of sea foam

I used the Shell Rotella since it has the higher zinc content. That's probably what you were remembering...zinc content.

Fairly high Zinc content is what you want for flat tappet cams. Newer designed engines, ie the Vortec GM has roller cams as well as the GT 40 Ford. Al

Mobil 1 15w50 full synthetic is flat tappet approved. I have been using it since the first oil change.
