The PO of my boat replaced some of the side panels with regular 1/4" plywood (and regular steel staples!) They are liquified now, have been leaking rust down the sides and have overall been a huge pain in the butt. I pulled out the old staples last night and I can save the foam and upholstery but I need to find something else to use as a backer.

I've called at least a dozen lumberyards and nobody cares 1/4" green treat or marine-grade plywood. In fact, I can't find 1/4" ANYTHING that will resist moisture. If I step up to 1/2" my old upholstery won't fit any more. Anyone have any creative ideas of what I could use?

Good thought! I had 3 cans of CPES in my garage.... I hope I didn't toss them!

Yup. If you can't find the CPES, just get some water treatment for decks, etc. or paint them real good. As little water as they'll likely see and as easy as they are to replace, you should be fine.

Found 3 gallons of rot doctor in my garage. I bought it when I first discovered stringer cancer. Never used it. Time to recoup some of the $300 investment in the stuff by using $15 worth for some side panels. ;)
