After a couple of weekends moving the bags around, we think we found the right combination this past weekend! We had a 750 lb fatsak behind the drivers seat (towards the rear), a 550 lb bag on the left side beside the engine (in the same position as the one on the rt), a 370 lb bag in the rear locker and a 550 lb in the bow. We surf goofy. Kevin found the sweet spot pretty quickly when we tried out this combo, it was his first time without the rope!

So how is the supra holding the speed? and what speed is working for you the best? I got a 600 lb and a 400 lb barrel looking sacs.. Im hoping I can work with them this year..

I'll toss in an answer since I'm here. It does a fine job with the weight in it. We run about 11mph and that's about 2200 rpm. It still has the stock prop on it which is a 13 pitch. It could probably benefit from a 10.5 pitch or so but she does just fine the way it is.

I was relieved how well she handles the weight as it is quite a lot, but the handling and getting up to speed is no problem. You just run the engine speed up to about 2200 and there she sits.

The wave is quite strong and easy to stay on, you can go quite a way back and come right back to the boat. It is bigger than it looks n these pics. We need to get a low angle shot without a surfer back there to give a better idea how big it really is.

Here are a few more pics from this weekend. A little better picture of the wake.

Talked to Nettleprops and they recommended an Acme 13/12 but weren't sure so they had me call Acme and Bob at Acme agreed that was the right prop for the wakesurfing with 2000 + lbs on the Sunsport - and by gosh they were right look at this pic! It cleaned up the wake and the prop wash pretty much disappeared. Bob at Acme says they found if they go with a more aggressive prop it tends to affect the wave negatively. We could not be happier! :p

It was much easier to get up to surfing speed, all the cavitation was gone, pulled me with no problem wakeboarding with about 1800 lbs on board. At cruising speed across the lake, it only gained about 50 rpm.

My new skim board from Triple X arrived today so anxious to try it out. I like their surf board so we will see, I have never tried a skim board. Attached are a few more pics from surfing this past w/end with the new prop.

Just to agree with Newbie there. I would suggest to anyone wanting to do any amount of surfing behind one of these grand old boats to change the prop first. Seriously it is that big of a change to the overall manners of the thing. I was stunned at the difference.

For an old DD, the wake is great and easy to surf, lots of length and drive. I'm not a wake surfer but as a kid surfed the old timey way. I'm getting a kick out of surfing behind the old Sunsport.

It's interesting -- the prop makes a difference for me, but it's not a night and day difference.

But..... I've NEVER been able to get a good goofy wake. Certainly not as good as yours! Looks really good. Congrats!

This thread backs up what I've told everyone about these boats. They will surf really well.... just keep adding weight. I've gone over 2400lbs with 8 people on board and it just kept getting better!

You have a Saltare, you can probably take a lot more weight then a sunsport!
