Are you just lifting the boat? the boat and trailer, is it in a boat house?. I have a 2009 21 v 3400-3800 lbs in my boat port that I lift with a 3500 lb ace lift..... i first put it in for a moomba outback 2600 lbs. Even when I did that I used 5/16 9800lbs vs 1/4 7000lbs wire and 4" I beams , 4 - 2 ton ball bearing pulleys as this is what is lifting the boat, and make sure it stays up. I leave it there all winter and it has worked flawlessly for 12 years. I am soon to change the 5/16 cableing as this is what will wear out.

Thicker wire means longer life, its the wire that takes a beating. also used 2 1/32 pillow blocks to hold the rolling 2" sched 40 pipe which the cable rolls up on. I bet I could lift another 500 - 1000 lb with my 3/4 hp motor :) before it would stall. Or I could just upgrade it to a 1 hp motor.
