What engine and transmission and prop does it have? I have a 1988 Pirata.

Have had the boat going on three years. The engine is a 7.4 liter pleasure craft with a 4 blade prop and am not to sure bout the transmission. I've been told to get a three blade prop for added speed but have never heard anything negative bout it being stainless. Is a stainless prop bad?

Thats a sharp looking boat.. Does it have a cuddy or just for storage? And Id like to know also.. Whats up about this stainless prop? Something bad?

The whole reason that inboard props are made of brass/nibral is so they bend or shear when you hit something. If you hit something hard with a stainless prop it's going to break your propshaft or your coupler or your transmission.

I don't necessarily think it's bad.... just ballsy!

Sharp looking boat!

Yeah, think of a brass/nibral prop as a crumple zone for your driveline - if you hit something it'll give. Cheaper to repair/replace a prop than a transmission or hole in your boat. Outboards & IO's run S/S because the lower units can kick up in a strike - direct drives have fixed drivelines, so something's gotta give...

Stainless props actually hold their shape better under load and can perform better, just risky in a direct drive.

Good info on the prop, thanks. The cuddy is big enough for one person to sleep some what comfortably in. Other than that its additional storage.
