Hey ive been messing around trying to get my dads old pontoon running for him to sell it.. It ran when parked for 2 years.. Now it has no spark!
This is what I got to check when I was down the lake
Coil does not discharge current.
its a 1987 omc 3.0 4 cylinder
Coil has power to both Positive and negitive side [ Ive read online this is normal while the points our in the open position ] True? False?
Coil was replaced with new one!
So im thinking that the points might have something to do with this?
The wire that comes out of the distributor [ points wire ] goes to the negitive side of the coil.. Correct right? This wire sends a tach signal if im correct which allows the coil to discharge?
Any input would be great.. My dad has it sold but the guys wants to hear it run before he takes it!
