So my 4th was almost boat free because the 3 top screws on my swim deck bracket backed all the way out of the fiberglass. I did some hillbilly repair with BBQ skewers and some epoxy to get the screws to grab again. This got us though the day without any issues. My question is- how do i fix this properly? Should I re-fiberglass the holes and then re-tap and screw them back in? Or is there some other method that would work?

I would through bolt it with aluminum backing plates.

How is the swim platform bolted on? It's not through bolted?

Had the same problem. I drilled through the platform and put bolts through. On the underside used washers and nuts with nylock. Haven't had an issue since. If you refiberglass it will just happen again. Tried that the first time

I just used thicker self tapping screws and it's been good for 2 years.

I'm not sure I can reach the back side to put a backing on it without pulling the exhaust or maybe even the engine. Ugg.... It held up all weekend- I'll pull it later this week and see if I can get it fixed.
