89' comp closed bow. I wanted to cut some drop down holes for the batteries in the floor under the judges seat to have more usable dry storage under the nose, but no go on that. The batts are to tall and too long. So my next spot would be in the nose of the boat there is a divider and they would go end-to-end there just behind the judges seat. I wanted them to be as far over to the passenger side as they would go to off-set the driver weight, thats not going to work either. Where are your batteries? I need some other ideas?? Thanks Jet

I cant push them forward in the nose because when the boat has no ballast in it, its nose heavy with 2-3 people sitting in the front and no rear weight to off-set, and thats where my 400 lb sack will be soon.

My 1987's battery is under the front seat. It looks like there is room to make the cut out bigger, and make a new box to hold two batteries, providing thay are not any taller than my current battery, which is comparable in size to your typical car battery.

I noticed in the 1989 owners manual, that the battery moved forward in to the bow storage area for some reason. I think I prefer the underseat loacation, as it preserves more storage room under the bow.

I am surprised that you can't find enough room under the seat for two batteries.

Cheers,

Yeah, Im going with 2-BIG marine batteries and without the batt box they are 10" tall and with the box they are 11". Too tall and too long even for 1-battery without cutting up a stringer.

Lets see some pic's guys!!

Have you tried making a rack for the tower? If you do it correctly, it will offset the weight of the driver. Try that, or maybe you can have the driver sit on them. Get a pillow for the driver to sit on and you will be good to go. Doesn't fix the ofsetting weight though.

Under the helm station. You will lose some leg room, but that's about the best I can think of with height room.

My boat has a lot of room directly in front of the drivers footwell. It's hard to reach without getting all upside down and backwards, and it is on the wrong side of the boat for offsetting wieght, but...

Maybe a custom sun deck, cooler, fat sac holder and battery tray, all lit with LEDs for looks...

Get 4 of em, stack em up on top of each other on the bow, slap a trolling motor on the front, have a seat on your custom design and fish away.

Why not add solar panels and be done with the second battery? :)

OOOOh, wind mills on your tower. They will look like a Giant Turbo prop mated with Mickey Mouse. That ought to keep you powered up as you drive.

I'm with haugy. I think his idea is the most feasible.

Jet - Why won't they work behind the judge's seat? I have one under the seat and then another in parallel behind the seat next to the divider.

Im using 2-HUGE marine batteries in a plastic battery box and they are just too tall. Even without the batt box Its too high. So I am going back to the original spot in the middle of the nose up against the divider like the picture below. My amp rack will be on the left and batts on the right and not enough storage goes inbetween. lol
