I just bought a 2011 242 Launch ....It came with the Roswell Tower Speaker Light combo... After only a week I noticed the rubber area on all of the left speakers had cracks and small splits in them... It appeard to be dryrotted.... The second thing is why doesn't Roswell offer any better speakers to upgrade to that will hold more power... I am in the process of fabing plates to put the Wetsound 6 1/2 that hold 100 RMS per speaker....... I really expected better out of a 80 k boat.... I love the boat but the stereo is far from what I expected it to be for that kind of money...

I also have problem with the amp that are installed heating up a cutting out... I had way more power in my 2002 Launch and it never kick out.... I guess they are asking one amp to do way to much in driving all the in boat speakers and a sub...

Sorry I am just venting.....

Interesting to hear a couple corners may have been cut, hopefully that apparent dry rot is just a defect of your particular boat. Sorry to hear all this

That roswell combo is junk. I bet they start offering wetsounds from the factory next year -- just like every other manufacturer has started doing.

You'd think they would have done it with their new "flagship" model

That's what you get for buying new. :D Just kidding. Yeah if I'm dropping $80k, you better be damn sure everything is up to spec.

That sucks man. Skiers does a TERRIBLE job on ttheir stereos. I started swapping speakers out and ended up rewireing the whole boat. An 80k boat should come with top of the line interiors and your choice of HLCDs or strong coaxials.

Arrrre they puting a box on the their sub yet?

Sorry for the hassle. I can promise you a day and night difference if you make some swaps.

For $80k You should have a live band playing in the boat.

I should probably borrow it for a week or so just to make sure the stereo's the problem....

Dittos. I'm sure it's a nice ride - but it just goes to show that a new model can still have problems. I'm not knocking a guy that can afford to spend $80K on his ride, but geeze . . . $80K? It should come with a new tow vehicle for that . . . . just sayin'.

I've been extremely happy with my polk mm650 speakers, I have 4 sets of 6.5 coaxil and about 50 watts to each. They sound awesome, and are fairly cheap for a set. I also the the wesounds pro60's, and I would go with the pro80's if i did it again. They are pretty bright tingy speakers, I knew they would be, but more than I expected.

Take it to the dealer. I have an 2011 22v and they replaced all the speakers under warranty. Apparently Roswell's mounts squeeze the speakers too tight and it caused the kinks and thus the cracks. They put new speakers in (Treo I think) and added spacers. I agree it's not the best sounding speaker bar, but at least mine work now (2 of the 4 didnt work at all from the factory).

Same with an '11 22V Launch and the Roswells are cracking too. Haven't heard anything good about them, other than the pretty light rack. Winter project is to upgrade to a pair of WetSounds Rev 8's with an Alpine MDX 5M DIGITAL amp. Agree that for the money they should at least put a a good wetsounds system in.

Damn that sucks with Roswell, but sometimes it can happen.
But if I had 80K to spend on a boat I bought a boat and rig and maybe build my own stereo.

Hope you'll find a sollution soon.

I just picked up my boat from the dealer and they took care of all of the little things and Roswell gave me 4 new speakers...I do not need them because the wet-sounds I put up there sound 100 times better...

If anyone has a roswell tower system and needs 4 new speakers I will give them a great deal... They will never go back on my boat... I will probably continue building on to my system with the WET-SOUNDs...

They are ridiculously loud. I'm pushing 300 WRMS a piece through my JL amp. Best speakers I've heard from a couple hundred yards away. :)

Hey - I know this is an old thread but couldn't help myself from chiming in. Not fair to dump on Roswell for this one....back in the day, Skiers insisted on Roswell using Kenwood components so the factory Phoenix Gold stuff was replaced. So what you ended up with was Roswell cans without their standard factory components. You should give their Marine Audio stuff a look now - two years of R&D has produced some AMAZING stuff.
