1987 PCM 454, LH rotation. I searched and the only thread that came up was a previous post from me about a db electrical starter that they don't sell any more. I'd love to buy another one from DB but can't find the correct one on their site..... Anyone know the correct OEM or Mercruiser Part#?

Call Skidim, they should be able to tell you the part #'s.

What's DB again? I forgot, but liked their stuff.

Yes... but I feel like a sheister calling SkiDim and then ordering it for half the price from DB Electrical (http://www.dbelectrical.com/)

I'll call DB and update this thread with the right part # in case it comes up again.

Well - I had a couple of them off their site that seemed like the right ones..... But the guy on the phone said SDR0031.

I don't remember mine having an "offset" bolt pattern. But... it's been 6-7 years since I've changed mine. Does this look right??

Found my receipt from DB. Part # is SDR0065. They also referred to another # 410-12115. I gave them the # off of my Delco starter and they crossed it over.
BTW mine is 87 Salt. 454 LH.

Odd... That one doesn't even show up on their site. I ordered the one they recommended.... Did some research and it looks like my block should be drilled for both offset and flat starter mounts. Fingers crossed!

Why not get it rebuilt for half the cost

The starter number on my 89 454 LH rotation is SDR0105. Not sure of the mfg since I painted over everything except the model # and USCG stickers. It was relatively new (one of the few items the PO had done right).

My local shop is $80-something and they usually take 2-weeks. DB is $48 and it's a new style high-torque unit.

After looking at my starter last night, I'm 90% sure that this is the correct one and that the one I ordered from DB is the wrong one. I just can't see how the "offset" mount is going to work. I could be wrong but..... Hopefully they'll take care of me. In the meantime, I picked up an $8 solenoid at the local auto store that should get mine back in action temporarily.

Isn't the OEM starter a bell housing mounted starter? If so the newer hi torque gear reduction startes which bolt to the block will not work. Please verify the starter you are going to buy is a Marine Starter. If yours is a block mounter starter then many of the newer hi torque will work just fine. Good luck Al

Yes. It's a bell-housing mounted starter. Pretty sure the one that DB sold me is going to be a block mounted starter.

And yes, I am buying the marine version.

Replaced my solenoid on my existing starter and it didn't fix it. I'm going to try a DIY rebuild kit as I'm not comfortable wasting another 2-weeks this season out of the water.... we are running out of days up here. :p
