  1. Hey again - Well I have not done this yet myself so not sure of all the details, but I was thinking it would be easy to find a hard tank to use as the base of the rear bench seat. The rear bench seat has several parts. The base/support is screwed to the floor. Then there is a flat 'seat' piece that is screwed into the base/support. The cushins rest on top of this piece. This piece is connected to the seat-backs and is connected to the rear ski locker with a hinge. The whole thing lifts up easily if you unscrew it from the base.

If you can find a tank that is hard enough, it could replace the seat base, or you could find a way to support it. There is also quite a bit of unused space between the gas tank and the back of the rear bench seat base. If you used a tank it could be quite a bit bigger than if you put a sac inside the existing rear bench seat base, which is what I did.

From previous post: Mikey D:Here's an idea for you - The Supra Launch uses a hard ballast tank as the base for the rear bench seat. Any thought to having Jim fabricate something like that? Tanks are easy to find. The other option is removing the dividers under the rear bench seat base and plumbing in a fat sac, but from my experience there is a lot of wasted space and the tank would hold a lot more. Think about it!

Also if you are excited about LEDs there are so many possabilities INSIDE the boat! In the bottom of the cupholders, under the drivers dash, in the cabin speaker grills... I put some on the interior gunwales pointing at the floor.

    Mike,
I can't visualize your thoughts. Are you thinking that I could use a ballast as a rear seat frame?
  2. Wow that is a bummer! IMHO dont let them gouge you if you can help it. Winterizing takes 15 mins. Underwater LEDs are also very very easy to install yourself. I would check out the bullet lines models if you are on a budget. Shadowcasters if not. Sounds like some killer work you're having done!
  3. I told the marina that takes care of it to winterize it, then leave it out because I was going to pick it up and send it to the upholsterer, He forgot and now it's recessed 4 deep in storage. He said he'll take it out, but this has pushed my whole schedule back at least a month.
I'm getting new upholstery, exhaust, elec ignition, elec fuel pump and new paint job along with underwater LEDs. I'll post before and after pics soon.
  4. Lets see that 87 SS!
