  1. Wow you got hooked up big time that is a great deal! If it has only been used 250 hours, stored the rest of the time, single owner, you are pretty much getting a brand new boat. I put 100 hours on my boat last year. When you check the floor and one more thing, flip over the seat cushin on the drivers seat and make sure the wood is solid and the floor right around the drivers seat and in front or the rear seat is solid those are the trouble spots. But I don't think 250 hours is enough to damage anything lol! Yeah she is a beast when you weight her. There are many different ways to weight it, I think mine is pretty good since it's all hidden (except the surf sac) and even the bow storage is open if you use two v-drive sacs or other tube sac instead of the whole-bow sac. Aerator pumps would definitely be faster and quieter than Simers, but I just can't deal with double the pumps and the water main needing a valve. I have five sacs now (but if I am surfing I don't use the starboard bow sac, and if I'm wakeboarding I do not use the surf sac. I am also going to try to add 100lbs in dumbell weights inside the gunwale in the rear of the boat since my two sacs aren't quite as heavy as someone using two 680lb sacs on either side of the engine.

I thought about removing the stripe, but I didn't have anything better to put on. If I could design something and pay you for it that would kick butt my girlfriend is a graphic designer so she could make something crazy like the brand new wraps supra makes even like just the rear 1/4 of the boat wrapped would be killer. If you want to email me the pdf I would love to see it [email protected] peace!
  2. I think I'm gonna rip the rainbow off the waterline too. I have a vinyl whole vinyl sticker machine at work and just got done making the supra symbol like Irish Jack's boat but with the swoosh going over it. that's also in the bright red. Can't wait to put it up on the brag board.
  3. Thanks a ton man. The haven't picked the boat up yet. that is this weekend and the only pics i have are in stupid PDF format so they won't come up on here. The boat is a smoking deal though. It's from a guy i know and it's been meticulously cared for. it only has 250 hours on it and it's spent most of it's life in an aircraft hangar, out of the rain. Everything visible is sound except the piping on the spotter seat is torn in the corner from getting into the storage. I'll definitely have to check out the stringers through the mount bolts though. the best part of it is that I am getting it for $4200!! That leaves me cash for a tower and lots of bags. The boat is the same color scheme as yours but all the burgundy parts are bright flame red. I'll post some pics up the day I get it.
  4. Hey! Congrats on the 88 SunSport it is a great boat! There is only one major common flaw in older SunSports is soft floors. The boat has been known to trap water under the floor if the water manages to get outside the bilge valley in the center of the boat. Nothing to worry about when swimming, etc, but it can be real trouble if the boat is left out in the weather for a long time. Thus I would be wary of a boat with a new floor or even new interior. Not a dealbreaker, just gotta ask about the history. Walk slowly round the floor barefoot to feel for soft spots and make sure the bolts where the engine mounts to the stringers or main support beams are tight and do not spin. Small leaks in the bilge are common, watch for this when you take her out the first year. There are seals around the prop shaft and the rudder that can leak, this is normal, common and extremly cheap and easy to fix. If you wanna post up a pic, we can give you our input! Good luck, it is an awesome awesome boat and I do not regret making the switch from an I/O for ONE second. Hope you're ready to surf!!
  5. Hey, I just secured an 88 sunsport. I'll post pics up in a few but I was wondering if there are any recurring problems I should know about. Looks like you've been over your boat quite a bit so I figured you'd be the guy to ask.
