  1. The guy I used is probably never going to do a Sunsport for that price again. He quoted $2500 but with the amount of time, effort, and supplies he's using, I wouldn't be surprised if he jacks the price for the next one up to $3500. He's an experienced guy, Wyotech graduate and all. I think he just undersold himself, not realizing what it takes to do these specific boats.

Mine is also an 86 Sunsport, but I pulled the engine and transmission myself. After the full rebuild of the entire boat I'll be looking at about $5000 for the stringers, mounts, floors, carpet, new coupler, buffing, fixing a crack, and obviously the full engine overhaul.

Don't go thinking that your stringers are good because of what you can see. It's what you can't see that should worry you. I would never have thought that my stringers looked as bad they did, if I had gone based on the engine mounts alone. The engine was bolted down tight, and had no give. It was the rest of the boat that was destroyed.
  2. Hey Mani, I saw your posts about the stringer replacement. I live in Coppell so I'm wondering what it cost you to get it done? I have an '86 Sunsport and the stringers have never been replaced. They appear to be solid but I'm getting nervous!
