iPhone 5 does not work in 2012 Supra?

Have a 2012 Supra 242 and I have been using my iPhone 4 and an iPod with the old style Apple USB cable with no problems. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 5 with the Lightning USB adaptor but it does not work when connected to the boat stereo. It doesn't give the typical audible beep when connected and no sound.

Any ideas?

Are you using the official Apple lightning adapter? I made the mistake of buying 2 other brand lightning adapters for my truck and they did not work. They worked to charge at home but not through my stereo. Bought the Apple one and it works perfectly.

I don't have the iphone, but I would suggest using an audio cable if your USB is not working.
