hey, ive noticed that some of the 80's boats have black rubber pads on the fiberglass swim platform. i have an 1989 mariah with fiberglass platform but it had wood screwed to it. just wondering if they came stock with the rubber pads? or if u added them what did u use?
The fiberglass platforms came standard with the rubber mats. I've never heard of anyone screwing wood to it. Can you take some pictures and post them here?
The stock pads weren't bad, but on my last two Supras I've put Hydroturf padding in it's place. It's much thicker and softer, as well as excellent traction and looks.
On mine the black pads tracked into the boat and drove me crazy. I used a Line-x type of coating where the pads used to be. I could see using a teak deck or something like that.
I've seen that happen on my buddies Launch, and another Supra. It was always a mess, and he had to keep a towel handy just to wipe your feet off to get in the boat.
On the black tracking in, my Hydroturf has never done that. On my Mariah, and on my Saltare. It's way cheaper than the Sea-Deck too.
sorry, i already removed the wood. it was thin teak strips screwed across. i am assuming for traction. the main problem was the screws holding it in werent counter suck enough and scratched up the bottom of the wakeboards. thanks for the info i will look into the hydroturf
This sounds like an awesome idea, my black oem pads are kind of falling apart, and i've been trying to think of a good replacement. I don't know much about hydrotuf aside from that it's used on jet skis. Could you post a link to the stuff you used, or a picture of what yours looks like?Quote:

I have a 1989 Supra Comp with the same platform. I replaced my standard two black pads with custom SeaDek pad. I wanted a little extra coverage around the perimeter of the platform. SeaDek sent me a mylar plastic sheet to trace the platform on and note some basic dimensions to send back to them. They then sent me an approval drawing of what it was going to look like. I installed it myself and it was VERY easy. (You can check out installation videos on their website or on Youtube)
SeaDek had great customer service and great turn around time for my order. I would highly recommend that you check them out!
