Swim platform style feedback requested

I thought I’d bounce some options off you guys around a swim deck pad replacement. I have that black residue problem that is very common on this era of boat

On the Seedek website, they have a template listed of the platform for a 2003 sunsport which I assume is the same size as what I have here. I was going to do a measure to make sure.

I’m still open to new ideas but here’s two options I’ve been exploring. Any thoughts and preferences? I know it’s just personal style but just curious what folks think.

I kind of like the mocha one but gray wouldn’t be so random.

Gray would look best IMO with the upholstery you have.

I vote gray too.

As much as I like the teak look I think it would look too out of place on a gray and white boat so I vote for the gray as well.

+1 for grey.

If you can get a darker gray, it will show a lot less dirt.

Not sure about SeaDek, but Gator Step has 3-4 different shades.

Thanks for responses, guys. I appreciate it and I agree. Gray just fits the boat better. And good tip on the shade, mjhknox, I’ll compare both sites and just choose my favorite. One thing I noticed is that the seadek site lists different pad dimensions in the 2003 sunsport than my oem pads but the platform size, i think, is the same as my 2002. Also the 2003 sunsport ssv template calls for a one piece pad as opposed to the 3 piece. Anyone know if you can mix and match here as long as the pad fits the platform?

Not sure why there would be a 3-piece unless the company was trying to replicate the stock look.

As for 2002 vs 2003, I would assume the platform is the same. In the early years the platforms did not change much from year to year. They are different shapes by model - 22 vs 24.

That’s a killer platform (and boat for that matter) Mjhknox! Thanks for weighing in. I ordered a one piece and so far I have done the paper test and it was a perfect fit. I looked at both seadek and gatorstep and went with seadek mostly based on the order wait times. Once installed I’ll share a pic but here’s what they send to check before the production cut:

Got the one piece installed. Pretty happy with it. Colors aren’t perfect but i wasn’t meticulous about it and didn’t order real samples and so on. At least we shouldn’t be tracking black residue into the boat anymore. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4ff6993dc0.jpg

That looks exactly like the platform I have on my '05 24' Launch! I'll be checking out the Seadek ASAP! Tired of cleaning black footprints off all the vinyl. Question...Did you remove the original black rubber inserts first or did you just install the new material right over the old?

I removed and definitely recommend doing the same for the seadek to properly stick. I removed the existing black stiff and also used mineral spirits to thoroughly clean the pad before applying. Not too bad. Get a scraper or some flat tool to pry up the black pads in large pieces
