Hey guys,
Looking for a good home. 87 Salt with 1168 hours. Always stored indoors. New floor and some exterior fiberglass work done by Welch Marine in Jamestown Kentucky in 2018. Solid...
I've been told that they're stainless. They do have a seam, though, and I think that may be the issue.
Used the same holes, caulked them good.
The floor does go all the way back. I was...
UPDATES: I still have water coming in just under the exhaust pipe as can be seen in my last pic. I spoke with Vince at SKIDIM about the issue. He related that one other person in his experience...
Sealed the swim platform mounts today. Letting it cure.
Gasket seated?
Redid all the caulk around the exhausts. Let it cure as recommended. Still have water coming in. I'll pull the ski, platform this week and caulk the begets out of those holes. Water is appearing...
Yes, I should have taken more pics. I pulled all the old caulk. Those gaps around the pipe have to be where the water was getting in. Can’t imagine where else?
The pipes in my '87 meet the transom to within a millimeter. (see pics) I would not go to the trouble of removing the gas tank, as I did for deck replacement, just to mess with the pipes. My flange...
Pulled the baffles, here's what I found. Big gaps in the caulk. Figure if I clean and seal and put back I ought to be good.
The design does suck, directed the concussive force of the exhaust back at the hull and the thin seal with hot water.
So, what'd you replace them with and how?
Thanks,
Jack
Hey guys, got the boat back from my fiberglass guy. New floor. Original stringers solid. I’ve got water coming in around my pipes like you wouldn’t believe. I need to caulk the interior of the tubes?...
Thanks, Cooose. They come in varying lengths at integrity. I should read more carefully.
I'm measuring 23' down the side x 2 = 46'. Add 6' for the stern that'd be 52'. Where you getting 70'?
Thank you!
Hey brothers,
In all of the rehabilitation going on with my precious.........old Salt, I am going to have to replace the bumper strip. Where to get another? Just need the rubber if that's an...
That sounds like a good idea. I've got a larger (8") screw cap access. The stock cap has always been a pain.
Thanks.
Don’t need to stand up under it, but it would be nice to have a bit of space above the windscreen.
If I still had my 16 year old arms the bilge access wouldn’t be as much of an issue....
Hey guys,
I'm thinking to replace my convertible top with a bimini so as to be able to walk under it and have a greater shade area in the boat. Tips from those who've put one on? What would you...
The brackets look to be sealed tighter than a duck's butt. Then again, water can find a way. Thanks for the tip!
Jack
I put it pretty far up in there. Not sure I knew there was a joint at 4" tho.
Thanks for the response.
Hey guys,
I've had water coming into my old salt coming up around my exhaust tubes. I removed the baffles and caulked the bejesus out of the tubes two seasons ago. No change. The only thing I...
Thanks. Had it out several years ago. Figured it out. Access opening behind the side pad and two screws in the back side from storage.
Hey gents,
Can’t remember how to remove the observer seat. Help a brother out?
Thanks!
Jack
Happy 4th, everyone. Safe boating!
