When making multiple runs back and forth over the same water, for instance in tight areas or coves, there are ways to make keyhole-turns so that the boat quickly winds-up heading the opposite...

Sounds like the alignment at rest is ok.

So, maybe the engine and trans are shifting during load while the strut stays fixed.

Maybe the key is to observe the situation with the cover off. If...
