Boat is sold!!
Putting our 87 Sunsport up for sale. Hate to see the girl go, but just had baby number 4 and our family has outgrown it! Stringers, floor and carpet were stripped and rebuilt in 2013. Was a top on...
i've had that same tower for a few years now. We have loved it. Had to tighten it up a few times, but nothing severe. I purchased mine through H20 in January and was delivered in a couple weeks. I...
Here are a few pics of the process. Stringers have since been glassed in and gridwork has been installed between them.

Ha, that was actually over a month ago. Stringers r in and glassed. Fella I hired is waiting on resin to do floor right now.
He has done a few things different than I may have, but I believe he is...
Lets try this again. I don't promote child labor, but he is looking for more foam to cut!!

whats the best way to add video? I drug it over from dropbox. It didn't work.
Not sure if this will show up, but here is some professional foam removal. He loves this job!

Suprised you weren't doing a dance around that thing. That's some celebration right there. I hate to spend the extra money to have it hired done, but relieved my whole winter won't be consumed with...
Yeah, they don't recommend foam and will be adding limber holes. Instead of foam for structure, he will build a grid between the stringers. Also, i asked him to put the floor under the gas tank on a...
I hope I'm not making a mistake, but I dropped the boat off at the shop. We checked the stringers up front in the bow and everything is good shape from drivers seat up. They are going to head off the...
Coming along on the tear out. I have the motor pulled and all the foam out. Will post some pics tonight. I have a question though. Based off of my busy winter ahead of me, I thought I would check out...
I learned more about the prior rebuild tonight as I tore foam out. Whoever rebuilt the stringers, put limber holes in where I plan on putting them. Then after the fact someone drilled holes in the...
Ha, your like the little voice over my shoulder. I'll keep ripping and see what I find.
We plan on fixing it right and keeping it around. I own a wood mill shop, so I have doug fir material in stock that I planned on using for the stringers. But after seeing that one side of the boat is...
Ha, thats what I was thinking also. What is your opinion on the treated wood as the stringer? I'm not sure I like the idea of treated material for this. If its ok, I may leave some of it and redo the...
The boat is an 87 sunsport. As for the cap off and all, I'm planning on removing it. I just cut the floor up to investigate what I have going on first.
Well I have reached that point of no turning back! I am finally going to tackle a rebuild this winter. Our boat has had a few soft spots in floor and motor mounts aren't as tight as they should. I...
The best price I found was through Summit Racing. I got the Mallory Marine Distributor. Part # ylm554cv. Couldn't be happier with the results. I did have my old one diagonsed before pulling the...
I was having the same trouble earlier this summer. I ended up getting a new 543 acme prop, but it didn't help all my problems. Ended up being my distributor. Timing was set right, but didn't advance...
Yeeaah Daddy!! I can't believe my boat. I dropped a new distributor in it today. Took it to the lake this evening to time and test. Set timing at 10 degrees and gave it a try. It jumped out the water...
Now it makes sense. I will take a look. My mechanic said it wasn't worth me paying him to mess with this old one, but I may try to myself before buying new. Thanks
If I can fix it that would be great, but I am confused. It will only advance 9 degrees and it takes 5000 rpms to do that. Shouldn't it advance 24 degrees or so? The springs seem very tight.
ha, we can not only get boat info on here, but deep wisdom also!
Ok so here seems to be my issue finally (I hope). Took my distributor to a local shop that has a diagnostic machine. When set at 10 degrees BTDC it only advances to 19 degrees. It also takes until...
