Thanks a ton everyone!!!! Big block 454 install happening this weekend for SunSport. I'll be back w/ my own pics soon.
I was wondering if anyone can post pics of their PCM 454 set up for me. I am piecing the engine together and dont know if I am missing parts or where other parts go.
I would also like to see the...
Congratulations on the new Salty!!! Looks good. A little bit of cosmetic & interior will spruce her up nicely. Any pics of the hull & rear?
First check the float switch to make sure it isn't stuck "up" or on. Sorry I'm not sure of the location, but may be in front of ski pole @ lowest point of the hull.
I thought most had a swim locker up top? Here is what I did under the seat for heater and storage... 9192
There should be plenty of room for a seat sack under there I would think. maybe this one......
I personally think its a good thing that you are in Ontario and I'm in Colorado. Reason being... I have a slight addiction to restoring older boats. If I didn't have two in my possession right now...
good thread you started here Steve. I did a lot of research before redoing the stringers in my boat and what it came down to was 1.cost, 2.longevity, 3. cost, 4.workability, 5.cost., etc. I ended up...
That's what I'm talking about. At our lake it gets down to 3'-5' at the end of the season. As long as you don't mind walking your boat out through the chocolate syrup, the lake is all yours!!!...
Looks great... makes me sad that I gotta wait until next winter to do mine.
Bring a ratchet and sockets with you and make sure the engine mount bolts and ski pole mount bolts snug down and don't spin (sign of rotten stringers) also make sure that the swim platform doesn't...
Sorry it took me a while, couldn't remember where I stashed the fat sacs during the rebuild. After looking at them, I was wrong :( what I have is one of the 260# Side sacs (x2=520#) ... ...
haha... that's for sure. Just heard on news last night gas is supposed to reach $5 this summer. But when you're talking big blocks you cant talk gas prices.
Happened to me 2nd day I owned my sunsport. Mine was due to rotten stringers and engine shifting. Drive shaft is around $400. I would also recommend getting new bearings in strut and paying a shop to...
I would add an inline fuse at the very least. Water & electricity don't play well together. If you have the old breaker/switch it should be stamped with the amp rating. You are going to want to get...
Prop size depends on a lot of variables... Better to call prop dealer and talk directly. They usually want to know altitude, what speed you are at at certain rpm's and a bunch of other stuff. For the...
Not yet. Putting the 454 in the sunsport hopefully in 2 weeks, and getting it to the lake spot. Then bringing the salty out of storage and finishing that project.
TK that boat looks awesome!!! I'm going to be repainting my boat that same color scheme this next winter. Just painted my new 454 grabber green, and had everything else powdercoated black. Keep the...
Been a while, but I know you're right. I've been pricing them lately, and I'm not willing to put that time & money in a boat I'm trying to flip.
I've fixed some of the upholstery, but gonna ask much...

Here are pictures of same bulge area after.
Thanks for your support. I sure hope its a quick sale. I got lucky to find it cheap, but I've had it too long. Wasn't going to strip 454 at first, but had an excellent opportunity, and really have...
Welcome friend. I have a '90 Sunsport and currently have an '86 Saltare too. Great choice in boat, do you have any pics to share?
You sure came to the right place, there is a wealth of knowledge...
Saltare was motorless (bought w/out motor, but had all other parts) bought 454 and using parts from Saltare to put 454 into my Sunsport resto. Putting rebuilt 351 and all new parts from my Sunsport...
In the sunsport there is also a flat board in the front of the bilge area that traps A LOT of water, you may want to see about removing that as well. See Pics.8958 This is it after I removed the...
Opps, posted this in the wrong section
They do have good wakeboards too tho
Don't know if anyone out there has heard of these boards, but this Wakesurf is by far the best one I've ever ridden.
They say that you can wakesurf behind even comp. boats with no effort. I tried it...
