I guess the point is moot now - I have been told that there are no rebuilt Ford 351's available anywhere. Thanks anyway. I will be looking for a different engine to put into the boat.

Thanks for the input. Would not the gear positioning - getting the gears from the distributor and cam shaft to mesh - be a problem??
I have a 1991 comp. The gears - both of them - connecting the cam shift and the distributor have been damaged so that the boat does not run. My mechanic says the best course is to replace the engine...
I have a 1991 Comp. Rebuilt engine and carb, runs beautifully, except VERY loud. My mechanic is suggesting putting in Skidim mufflers, the 41204. Does anyone have any experience with Skidim mufflers?...
Thanks for all the input - and the information. I will ask the mechanic about all these things.
I won't do it myself - too little knowledge, too few tools. The engine has only around 700 hours...
I have a 1991 Comp that just blew out a head gasket, and the head is shot. The boat is otherwise in good shape and was running well until this happened. I have several questions for the group:

Well, there won't be any turndowns to report back on this year. I blew a head gasket and may need a new engine, so no money for frills.
Jet link - makes sense, and I have the same noise distortion as you somewhere around 15-20. I have read about the FAE elsewhere and ran across several comments about the distortion to the wake it...
The American Skiier is shorter and lighter - terrible in rough water, but a very small wake. I love the look of the Supra, especially in the water.

Do you think the turn downs made a...
Hello everyone - After skiing behind an American Skiier for MANY years, I now have a 1991 Comp. It seems noisier to me than the Skiier, especially after it planes and the exhaust pipes get up out of...
Excellent thought - I will do that if it ever stops raining. I am pretty sure it is engine noise - it's constant.
Hard to say for sure - I am pretty sure the mufflers are new, or nearly new, but I am wondering if they are cheap ones. Also, the underside of the engine hood does not seem to have any insulation....
I have a "new" 1991 Comp - had an American Skier last year. The Comp seems louder than it should, quite a bit louder than the Skier. It runs very well, so I don't think there is any kind of gasket...
