The first thing you do is lower the front of the trail as much as you can. This will raise the back of the boat. Then block the rear of the boat on both sides of the transom. Then raise the front...

Good luck with the new boat.
1) To check the stringers, torque on the motor mount lag bolts, if they turn then you have a problem. Just use a socket wrench and don't over torque.
2) Rub...
I love SeaFoam. I use it in all my motors. SeaFoam works with ethanol, but I read an article that rated all the products that are available to keep the ethanol from separating during longer...
Check with Viper.
If your gas has ethanol make sure you use a product that treats ethanol. Standard Sea Foam and Sta-Bil don't.
Check my post under "Stringer Repair Using Seacast" Smith's is the way to go.
Smith's Penetrating Epoxy is another application and is great stuff. It's designed specifically to penetrate the cell walls of wood and encapsulate the application -- when if cures, it's rock hard. ...
I can't imagine how open cell foam would keep your boat from sinking, or any foam for that matter. Not enough flotation.
I would go with the composite material. What ever route you take, make sure you take out the original foam. It's open cell foam, so it absorbs and holds water -- ultimately rotting anything it...
I've been dealing with the same issue, it doesn't run bad, but it doesn't run right. A sputter. Gas mileage sucks. Some times it will come in and out of running perfect and running rough/just not...
gdubsmsp, I live in Wayzata and I'd like to watch your progress. I know mine is going to need it some day, and it would be interesting to see the process. If I can help I'd be happy to lend a hand....
If it's milky, then there is water in the trans. The more you use it the less milky because it burns off the water. The other guys are right, trans oil cooler is my bet. That's really the only way...
CornRicky, I'm with you I'd like to learn how and why SeaFoam is such bad stuff. 92SupraComp -- Melges or Johnson?
It's hard to say exactly, but you need to get under the boat and do some wiggling to see if there is any play in the rudder. If there is than make sure the packing nut on the rudder is tight enough....
Condensation in the tank is so minuscule that it's not worth talking about. A fresh tank of gas (45 gallons) and some Sea Foam will quickly take care of the 1/2 oz that may accumulate. My main boat...
Mine does the same thing. I just giggle it a little. My next step is to disconnect the switch. If you want to do the same, just disconnect the wires from the switch and connect them together. In...
New oil in the spring or old oil, to me it makes no difference. I live in MN and I wait to the last minute to pull my boat. Sometimes it's too cold to be working on stuff. That's why I wait till...
I change mine in the spring. Oil does not go bad it just gets dirty. If you clean dirty oil, it's as good as it was before it was dirty. The environment that we boat is almost dirt free. Just...
The temp of the pipes is the same temp on your temp gauge, maybe a little cooler. Call the manufacturer and ask them if they can handle the heat.
I"d start with a bad impeller, clogged water intake, bad thermostat.
I almost lost my swim platform because of those pins. I just used 3 bolts with nylock nuts.
Check your coil. A bad coil will not work when its hot, but will work when its cooled down. A bad coil will also give you poor performance.
Do you know Kevin Bennett by any chance?
Did you check the underside of the distributor, I have a Prestolite system and that's where mine are located.
Definitely a timing/advancing issue. Check your timing, also squirt a little WD40 into the screen doors on the distributor if the weights are sticking they won't advance, that should loosen them up.
