Here are some pics of the salare I picked up this weekend. It's an 88 with750 hours on a 454. It came with 4 tops 2 bimini,1 trailer and a camper cover. Congratulations on the new Salty!!! Looks good. A little bit of cosmetic & interior will spruce her up nicely. Any pics of the hull & rear?

That's an awesome deal man!!! CONGRATS! She'll need some work, but still a great looker for sure. Summer is awfully close. I think get the Bravura ready for summer, and then spend a year slowly putting the Salt in order for next year at a pace that's enjoyable rather than trying to kill yourself and your pocketbook to get it ready now.

Ya, thats what i was thinking. Enjoy the summer and do the wrk at an easy pace. Haugy do you have any idea how much the cap weighs?

The cap is light once separated. Most of the weight is the hull and drive line. The boat weighs 3,450lbs. The engine alone is about 650lbs.

I don't have an exact weight. I don't know anyone that has weighed it once pulled. Maybe some others have.

Why? What's your plan?

I have a carport in the backyard and was wondering if i could trailer it underneath that and use the carport to winch the top up and suspend it. Prob the same with the engine. Was needing the weight to see if it would be possible? Would be alot easier than building something.

Congrats on the addition! Looks great, especially the interior. I lifted the cap of my Salt up by the rafters of the garage. Lagged some pulleys directly into the rafters & tied some to landscape timbers spanning across the 2x12's, and then rope to come-a-long winches lagged into the top plate. One man operation. I had stripped the windshield & front rails off (left the cleats to lift with and rear rails to add support to the flimsy rear. I didn't weigh it, but would guess only about 200-300 lbs stripped - but really flimsy. I'd definetely use 6 lift points. Most of the weight is in the front third (especially if you leave the windshield on).

Thx for the info. That carport should have no issues supporting that weight. Hopefully will have the top off nxt month. And demo it the following weeks.that was nice how u got ur cape off by yourself.
