Default INFO: How to post pics to appear inside thread

Perhaps this might deserve sticky status, i dunno. I've noticed that nearly all photos posted in these forums are posted through the board software, requiring viewers to save the file to their hard drive to open it. It is quite easy to post photos so that they appear inside the body of the thread. I have been thinking of writing this thread for a while, but I am just now getting around to it. Also, I'm pretty sure that using this method would save Skier's Choice on bandwidth usage because the images will then come from a separate server.

    Step 1:
Create an account with a free online photo hosting service. There are several out there, but I use http://www.photobucket.com .With the photobucket free service, you can store up to 25MB of photos that are up to 250kb in size each. It is very simple and self-explanatory to create an account. You only have to do this once. After the first time, you just log into your photo album to get the links to your photos.

    Step 2:
Upload your photos to the service. Enter your photo album on photobucket. Under the “Add Pictures” section, click on the browse button. A dialog box will pop up and you need to select the photo that you want to upload. Select the file, and click open. Then just click the submit button and let the computer do the work. Repeat for as many photos as desired. NOTE: you can upload multiple photos at a time by clicking on the submit multiple pictures dialogue below the submit button.

    Step 3:
Now you have a photo album with pictures of your pride and joy in it. Now, to post a photo in a thread. Open two web-browser windows: one with your photo album in it, and the other with the post window of the Supra bulletin board. You will want to select the link text in the box labeled “IMG” in photobucket as seen in this illustration.

After you have highlighted the text, right-click it and then click “copy” in the menu that pops up. Then switch to the browser window with your Supra bulletin board post and simply paste the text into the body of your message.

That’s it. When you finish the post and click submit, the photo will appear inside the post and viewers won’t have to deal with downloading the picture to view it.

    Cheers,

Since changing over to the vbulletin software you may now attach files directly to the thread without using an external site. You may also create galleries in your user profile The older method of linking to remote images still works as well.

    Sweet!

Thanks for the upgrade guys. I will say that the old forum software was getting a little...dated.
