Default Where Do I Find PCM Engine Parts

Had a bit of bad luck this weekend at the lake. Looks like i may need to replace some expensive engine parts like possibly the heads or intake manifold but hopefully just head gaskets. Does any one know of a good place for oem engine parts maybe aftermarket parts. Checked out skidim.com but not too much avail. for my 454 pcm. Probably at least looking at thermostat and gasket, impeller, head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets. Any Ideas.

Did she overheat?? More than likely it is just a head gasket gone south or something silly. Did you ever look at the impeller to see if it was still intact ??? I think it is less damage than you think. Unless it froze over the winter season......

Thanks for the info. Im not a chevy guy so im not real familiar with the 454 but i may have found a little design issue with the heads. Thats if their original.

I had replaced the fresh water supply hoses to and from the impeller pump. So when i backed into the lake this weekend i made sure they were flowing good before i let loose from the trailer. Floating near the dock the temp started comming up and i got distracted getting everyone loaded. Checked the temp gage and she was hot sitting at about 220 but may have been hotter. Shut her down and started checking hoses. Looked to be getting water ok but now it wouldnt even turn over. So thinking the worst-seized engine- I loaded on the trailer and got to work. When i started pulling spark plugs water started draining. Every cylinder had water. When I saw that I started thinking it could be the head gaskets but ive never seen all eight cylinders leak and hydrolock from head gaskets maybe one or two. So now I'm thinking a cracked intake manifold but I did winterize thourghly. Well here is where you chevy guys come in. My intake manifold has four water ports two up front and two in the back left and right. My heads on the other hand only have water ports on the front intake side the rear intake side are dead ends. So my thought is the way the engine sits in the boat at an angle and the dead end water port at the rear of the intake manifold may have caused a freeze and crack during the winter. There is no way for this water to drain. That may cause water to get into the intake and in the combustion chambers. Chevy guys what ya think? I think someone put diffrent heads on. 89 saltare 454 330 hp

Haven't pulled the heads yet but i am gonna see if my intake has a leak. hoping im not buying heads and intake manifold. Wish me luck and i will take some pics tonight. Thanks guys

Any water in the oil. I'm thinking the intake is cracked or a gasket let go. Pushing water into the intake. When you tried to turn the engine over to restart. The engine rolled a little but until the hyrolock occoured. This filling all the cylinderswith water. Have you conducted a compression test. This will quickly rule out some options. One question prior to winterization did you drain the block completly from water?? If yes then the issue can't be from freezing.

Also you can try using a smoker to check in the intake for leaks.

harbor freight has a coolant tester you can buy for cheap ... i have a snap on one that works for my auto and can easily be applied to pressure test the coolant passages
for leaks .... works like a charm ! but compression testing would work also ! good luck

Checked the intake and its good to go. Doesent have the rear passages like i thought. Haven't removed the heads and haven't compression tested but ran like a champ untill the whole overheat hydrolock deal so still hope it's head gaskets. Pretty sure i missed the block drains and feel pretty dumb for not catching them before winter but I did run about six gallons of marine antifreeze through the whole system. So the block should have been protected and I see no signs of freezing. There was no water in the oil before overheating and very little after not even milky. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm worried it might be worse than you think. Even though you added a ton of antifreeze it still will be greatly diluted when the block isn't drained. Problem is flow out the tail pipe will occour before the fresh water is pushed out. Any frost plugs pushed out. Do a google search of where the 454 typicially lets go when they freeze.
