    Default Another Amp Question...

So, the deal on the pro 60's fell through and I instead bought a pair of exile 65Q surf speakers. I have a kicker marine 350.2 amplifier. It states that at 2 ohm the power will be 175 watts x 2 RMS and at 4 ohm it will be 110 watts x 2 RMS for the amplifier. The surf speakers are 125 to 250 watts rated power handling. Do y'all feel this kicker amp will be sufficient to push these speakers well without causing any damage?
    Thanks

Power is not the only factor. Take a PPI amp of 2x30w, it will give alot more "power" and sound pressure than a 2x100w average amp, because alot more dynamic.

In my case, I have 4x 200wrms speakers in parallel 2 by 2 on a 2x 100wrms @ 2ohms Orion Xtreme 400.4 (2 channels are for the subwoofer). Gains on the amp are at minimum and I can saturate speakers because very dynamic amp. I cut it @ 70Hz HP to prevent it.

So, 110wrms on 2 ohms speaker is more than enough, don't worry, you will have powerfull sound and good pressure.

    Greenhead,

Although those speakers will handle more, that Kicker amp will do just fine for you and will not result in any damage to the speaker. IMO, 100 - 125W RMS to a coax tower speaker is about what I like. Run the x-over filter on Hi-Pass and tuned to 100Hz is where Id set it.
