Installing a FAE this week. Talked to a local muffler shop and they can fabricate one out of 3 1/2 " stainless for about $300. Kiddos are doin fine today have to go back for a check up tomorow.

pardon my ignorance, but when the boat isn't moving, how does an FAE help? Does just bubbling the exhaust through the water absorb a significant amount of CO? Glad the kids are ok. I grew up on outboards, so it's just second nature for me: if there's anybody in the water at the back of the boat, it's shut off.

Ok any info on where to buy one from
Man that is scary. Just brought an old Supra home and I am thinking FAE is the next thing on the list to buy.
Glad to hear your kids are fine.
Where exactly do the exhaust fumes exit the water with fae?
Post #4 .... There is a group buy going on on the Moomba site ($50 off). I would let them know ASAP. The cost is more than $300, though.

The data that I'm aware of is that Catalytic converter equipped engines have 99% reduction in CO levels. AFAIK unless you're doing something really stupid you're not going to get CO poisoning on a cat boat. With the nanny state we now live in, I'm actually shocked they haven't been mandatory for some time now.
