Man that came out looking really nice. Those 8's will be loud for sure, just wish I had time to work on mine. It was put on hold after pulling my transmission off and seeing the starter bendix gear and fly wheel needed to be replaced. I hope to start back on it soon and see how mine is going to sound. I have the amps hooked up but I also picked up an EQ to help clean up the sound and it lets me tune each one of the amps.
Hey guys,
The speaker box is on the boat. My friend is more than happy with it. It sounds very clear and far far away behind the boat.

Hi Michael,
Screws used are those from the factory tower. So it's 4 screws per side. They actually gows through the vinyl. It does not damage it more than the little slit i do. I did it on the 3 spaeker boxes already done. No issue for years till it's well fastened on the tower/clamps.
I used factory speaker wires already inside the tower. Simply moved unsued sides to the used mounts (dont' know if it's perfectly understandable ). The Focal Subwoofer is a dual 4 ohm coil. so it's 2 channel for speakers and 2 channel for the subwoofer. My friend uses old school RFF amps (trapeze ones) to power the whole boat. A four channel (400a4) for cockpit speakers (front and rear speakers paralleled) and tower speakers, a big 2 channel (800a2) for Inside subwoofer (dual 4 ohm coil as well) and tower subwoofer.
Both subwoofer have their coil paralleled. As RFF have separate gain for Right and left side, so it's 2 ohm load on both channel.
Hope I'm understandable !?

Hello Guys,
A new built I've done this season for friends, still DIY HLCD, this time in bullet form.
I've used flower pot for woofers ($20 / side), and SS mug for the tweeters ($10 / side) ! Woofers are Crescendo 8 PWX, tweeters are Pyle PDBT29 (Crescendo didn't had their tweeter available when I placed the order). Add a -3dB L-PAD to match the woofer and tweeter level
I Let you calculate how it costs ...
I removed the mug arm, built wood spacers with resin and black paint to get the round shape to attach tweeters to pots and clamps to pots.
I built 2 models : 1 with existing chrome clamps and external speaker connectors, and 1 with budget plastic (also exists in aluminum) clamps (tubing support).
Here they are :
