Default Using Ballast Bags to Move Lift

I bought a galvanized boat lift and mess to float it out of a slip and you to the shore. My top idea is to use plastic barrels strapped to the bunks but I keep thinking of using my 750's to float it. Anyone ever do this?

I have used everything from a small fishing boat, 22 life jackets strapped around it (sucked) and the best method for us has proven to be unhooking one portion of our dock and lifting it onto the dock while strapped to furniture dollies so we can easily roll it off the dock and onto the shore or trailer.

For our dock platform, we used a truck on shore to pull it and several styrofoam drums to roll it on. As it rolled off one we would take it back around to the front and keep going.

rather than your ballast bags, go get some tractor tire inner tubes, put them under your lift bunks, and start filling them with air. It'll come right up and you wont ruin your ballast bags.
