Default That doesn't look that bad, does it?

Zoom in some. It doesn't look that corroded.
It started missing when we were surfing. Then it was seeming to miss more at high speeds. I finally decided to try changing the fuel filter and distributor cap and rotor. When I pulled the cap I saw this:

I'll change them tomorrow and see if it helps.

Btw, is the rotor supposed to be that far away from the contacts inside the cap?:

Your top cap looks like a fairly average wear pattern. That fuz can be cleaned off with a Dremel with the small wire brush bit and the cap/rotor used as a perfectly good spare. I prefer the brass contacts, like it looks like you bought as a replacement. Naturally, close is better, but I don't know how much gap is acceptable...never really checked it before.

I'll be interested to hear if the fresh rotor/cap solve the miss.

No the rotor should be closer . But some cap designs are different . gM style usually are closer than that looks as if it just worn

Where I show the rotor inside the cap, those are both the new replacement parts. It seems too far to me.

I'd say a mismatched pair there. They should be in the tenths of an inch not hundredths.

Installed it. It's running great. The cap and rotor was only like $40!
