I thought I would put this thread out there in case someone else has to remove a Hurth 450D transmission. We noticed that the transmission was leaking fluid as indicated by losing about half a quart after about 10 hours of running into the bilge. It appears it was leaking from the front seal. After reading up on it sounded like front seal leaks can be a sign of bigger issues. The plan was to remove the transmission so I could send it off to FFM to be serviced and have the pump checked. I used the following thread https://forum.supraboats.com/showthr...0239#post70239 which was very helpful but when I got to the point where the six bolts which connected the transmission to the bell housing were removed I could only get a little bit of movement, less than ˝”. So I tied removing the tranny and bell hosing at the point where the bell housing attaches to the motor. I removed the seven bolts, starter and the two bolts which attached the shield on the bottom of the bell housing. I again was only able to get about ˝” of separation. This thread https://forum.supraboats.com/showthr...ng+bellhousingwas exactly what I was experiencing - the transmission spline was stuck on the flex plate. However, instead of using the all thread to separate the bell housing from the engine (as was used in the other thread) I drilled two 1" diameter holes in the bell housing which provided me access to the bolts which attached the damper plate to the fly wheel. After removing all six bolts everything slid off easily. I cut through the flex plate near the springs, so I could remove the bell housing from the transmission in hopes of removing the spline of the flex plate from the transmission with a pulley puller. I was still not able to remove the spline of the flex plate from the tranny with a pulley puller. FFM said they would be able to press it out.
