Default 1990 supra comp ts6m good deal??

Stuck between a rock and a hard place here. So I'm new to boating and this would be the first boat I've ever bought. The boat is on Craigslist and it is a 1990 supra comp with 1300 hours. I've talked to the guy and he said he has done the maintenance himself. With no records and that high of hours he is asking 5500 for the boat. I don't want to get the shit end of the stick here so I'm asking more experienced people if this price is fair or not. He is willing to take it out with me, I have yet to see it in person.

1300 hundred hours is a lot. That would make me nervous.

You're going to need to check the floor and stringers. They were made out of wood. If they are in bad shape then youre in for a big project. Check the floor for soft spots also check the boots on the motor mount. If they spin you have for. Knock on the stringers. Should hear a solid sound.

    Next check engine compression.
Run it on the water. See if it runs smooth and everything works.

I personally think the price is high with that many hours. Unless the gelcoat is perfect with no cracks or hazing and the interior is clean and you have good compression. Post pics

You can get into a nice '92-95 for $10,000 with far less worries.

You can get into a really nice composite comp for way under 10k. Comps aren't bringing in any kind of money cause they aren't great boarding boats.

My old Comp engine has way more than 1300 hours on it, and no issues, but I'm very good at my maintenance and care.

As others said, check the wood and the floors.

And yes, that $7500 Comp would be a WAAAAAYYYYYYY better deal then the 90 because of zero wood. We could help if we could see the ad for the 1990 comp you are looking at.
