Excellent posts. Thought it was going to get heated, but everyone kept their level heads.
As far as cell phones. Also make sure they take a charger. Stuck at airports, they can find a wall outlet (sometimes depending on people) and charge.
Make sure they take every opportunity to charge that thing even when it is 80%. Never know. Turn it off/airport mode if they don't need it so it is avail when needed. Have them text you when the get on the plane at their seat so you can help keep track. (Do this today with wife. Txt thru security, on plane, on ground...).
Like the debit card idea. Lastly, if they haven't flown before, just tell them to enjoy the "experience". I love airports (usually because I am going somewhere fun). People watching. Seeing folks wearing shorts and flip flops going to Pittsburgh in Jan because they come from someplace warm. (maybe not, but definitely underdressed for the destination.).
Probably more "stress" on you than them...Glad they get to get the experience they are traveling to. And youngest thru Vegas? Make sure he knows those machines in the isles aren't video games. It was cool seeing the casino buildings beside the runway. (Never been in one, never even down the road they are on.)

LOL about the machines. My parents will be picking him up right at the gate, so he won't be walking by them alone, but good point.

Well, both boys have now flown to their destinations. Our oldest left in late May, spent about a week in CA with family and has been in WY ever since. He's working hard and going through some growing pains in that area. My in-laws have already had to have a few talks with him about working with a joyful heart, not complaining and not worrying about what other people are doing, getting paid, etc. The youngest left yesterday and had a good flight. He is already enjoying some time with the family and doing some special things with my parents. He had some down time this afternoon and sent my wife a text saying "Mommy, I miss you and I want to come home". We figured he would deal with a bit more homesickness than the older one. We were very happy with the way their flights went and how they each dealt with it. It sounds like the flight attendants did give them some special attention, as well.
