    Default Mastercraft to go Public

    Mastercraft has made some substantial gains over the last couple years. 1.7M to 18.4M EBDITA over a modest increase of revenue is something to be proud of. Hopefully Supra is working on getting lean too. Maybe somebody could start lower the prices of these new boats.

    Interesting. I didn't know Malibu was already public.

    Having such a significant EBDITA change tells me that they've made a series of large behind the scenes financial and accounting changes to prepare for an IPO. I might be overly skeptical but the quality of a product rarely improves when the accountants and wall st. types take over.

    Agree with that. Consultants will come in a prep the financial statements.

    Sales are impressive over the years since the boat crash of the late 200x.

    Most MC owners are very brand loyal. Says a lot for the brand.

    I know it's new, I'm not guessing the 'entry level' MC is moving the overall sales much.

    The marina where I used to work just became an MC dealer a few years ago, I'll be curious to get their take on it. Next time I'm down there I'll ask!

    That's what I noticed at the boat show this past winter.
    Add a trailer, some options or what they refer to as a 'convenience package', and your at 70K.

    So I can get that boats are going for 70k+. But I just tried out the online configurator and I'm baffled by the engine options: when you choose the 6.2, it adds $12,250 to the price. They don't subtract anything, it's $12,250 straight to the bottom line. WTF? How can the 6.2 cost that much MORE than the 5.7, and if so, who the hell would choose that? I'd get the 5.7 and THEN get a nice used mid 90's ski boat for $12,000. Seriously.

    So yesterday I was going to reply that I've never seen an NXT -- neither in person, nor for sale online. I was starting to wonder if they actually built/sold any of these boats.

    And then last night I pull into the boat launch and what's sitting there? An NXT! No explanation for that coincidence.

    There are 4 motor options.

    I think the 6.0 and 6.2 move to aluminum blocks, heads, and manifolds. Not sure.

    When I looked at a new X30 a few months ago, it had the 6.0. That was an upgrade from the 5.7.
    The next motor upgrade (6.2) was at least 3-4K. But it was not much more hp or torque - 385 hp/411 foot lbs compared to 430 hp/445 foot lbs.
    6.0 had more low end torque compared to the 6.2 high end torque.

    The 7.4 motor was 20K more for 500+hp and 500+ foot lbs
