    Default Boat surging and sputtering

Boat was running fine for an hour under a surf load. Was switching over to a goofy rider when all of a sudden boat started to spit and sputter. Gave throttle and stalled out. Sat around had some lunch, opened the sun deck to cool engine and blower on. After 1/2 of sitting around fired up ran fine for 1/2 hr than the same thing happened. Limped it off the water put new fuel in it, let it sit overnight and than put it back on water next day. Ran fine. Was it bad gas? Or start of fuel pump/filter tiring?

It sounds like vapor lock. Do you have a carb or injection? Was it a hot day?

Bad gas usually stays bad until you drain it or burn it out. The filter is usually most noticeable under high power, but may run well at idle and just off idle. So...most likely vapor lock, but filter is a close second.

Yeah I agree vapor lock or filter. Usually if the filter is bad it won't run under higher Rpms. Easy way to check if it's the filter is find the return line and pinch it closed. If it runs fine you filter needs to be changed.

Injection. Yes it was a hot and muggy day. I have had a vapor lock before and it wouldn't even start. It was starting no problem. Yeah this vapor lock is annoying SC should have recalled this long ago.
