Problems with rear ballast pump not draining

Have a 05 24ssv. All them pumps on system fill and drain except the port side pump will not drain all the time? Don't know if it is an airlock issue or what? If I leave the pump running for a long time it will sometimes take off and drain. Please any advice would help. Sick of having to empty a 750lb bag with a tsunami pump everytime!

These pumps don't do air well. I have learned to fill the bags until I see water coming out of the drain fittings. That ensures that all the air is out of the drain lines. Then they drain as soon as I hit the switch. Before I figured out that trick, I used to have to stand on the bags until the air purged out of the line between the bag and the pump.

One thing to check...make sure the pump is running by listening for the humm. I had one this year that would start and stop intermittently. They were only $25, so I bought a spare when I replaced it.

Where did you buy your pump? I have a rear bag that will not drain and it fills up without flipping the switch. The right and center pumps run when I hit the switches but the left doesn't come on when I flip the switch. Thanks

Did you check the fuse on the left-pump? If the fuse is OK, probably a bad pump if that is the original.

Some bags have been known to fill up b/c of the 'scupper' on the bottom of the boat. Forces water into the system.

If the bag fills on its own, then your Orbit style sprinkler valve is bad. They only cost $11 at Lowes, and take about 10 minutes to swap out. Keep the same original solenoid, so long as it clicks when you flip the switch on. Just unscrew the new solenoid and screw the original into the new valve...then you won't have to mess with soldering connectors or anything.

As far as the pump...if it makes no noise, then check at the connector for 12 volts. No power...then fuse is blown. Got power...then you need a new pump. I bought mine from the local Supra dealer. At $25, I got a spare.

Should be wires from the switches to the breaker.
Before I changed my 2007 sprinkler-valve system to independent johnson pumps, I recall fuses also -2.5amp

One last point...fuses rarely just blow for no reason. If it blows a second time you may have to track down a chafed wire, or replace the pump anyway.
